Ashlie Luckett

“Music chose me,” says multi-talented singer/songwriter Ashlie Luckett, when asked about the passion that fuels her aspirations for becoming one of our generation’s future legendary singers. Delicately fusing R&B, jazz, and pop genres, her vocal abilities far surpass her youthful age of 18-years-old. She has carefully crafted a musical style that is both warm and soulful, while remaining charismatic and fresh. Ashlie grew up in the outskirts of Richmond, Virginia, an area that is well known for contributing an enormous amount of creativity to the entertainment industry. Possessing the necessary confidence and flair to set her apart from the rest of the pack, Ashlie Luckett will soon grow to be a household name.

Becoming inspired by phenomenal artists such as, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Aaliyah, and Alicia Keys, Ashlie decided that she wanted to pursue a career in music when she was just a small child. At the age of nine, she made her singing debut at her hometown elementary school. Since that monumental day, Ashlie has never put down the microphone. When the untimely passing of her idol Aaliyah was announced in 2000, Ashlie was severely devastated. “I understood at that moment that life is too precious, and that you can’t take it for granted,” says Ashlie when speaking of the tragic time. With a newfound focus, she continued working day and night at honing her skills.

An all-around entertainer, Ashlie has been classically trained in music, dance and theater. Her ambitions of expanding into acting landed her work as an extra in the 2004 Disney film “Mickey,” which starred Harry Connick Jr. She is a well-seasoned performer, and has opened for world-renowned acts such as, The Temptations, The Persuaders, The Manhattans, Morris Day, Ashford and Simpson, as well as gospel icons Bobby Jones and Donnie McClurkin. She has also performed alongside R&B crooner, Jaheim and Bad Boy recording artist, Gorilla Zoe. Appearing on the bill with such legends has taught Ashlie the value of having a dynamic stage show. With a knack for blowing audiences away, she is a two time top three finalist in the world-famous Apollo Theater’s amateur talent competition. Additionally, she has showcased her talents at various community and sporting events, including singing the National Anthem for the Richmond Braves.

“If there’s something you want, you have to work hard for it,” says Ashlie, who recently made the decision to move to New York City. Although she was a fierce competitor in track, swimming, and basketball, her heart was pushing her to fully pursue her goals as a musician. She had previously entered Virginia State University with plans of obtaining a degree in music, but decided to take a chance at gaining real-life experience. Ashlie is currently in the studio recording songs for her upcoming debut album. Her first single entitled “Shatter” is receiving great reviews at present. She continues to tour throughout the country, and is currently performing within New York City at various events. A natural born winner, this strong-willed, beautiful young woman, is a definite force to be reckoned with.
