Go to www.ashrae.org/certification and download the Guidebook for the program in which you are interested. www.ashrae.org/certification Slide 8 Any individual who meets one of the following combinations of academic and work experience criteria will be eligible to take the HBDP certification examination. Government-issued or government-recognized license as a professional engineer OR Minimum of Bachelors degree in engineering or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning and a minimum of 5 years experience in HVAC&R design OR Associates degree or Technical degree or certificate in design, construction, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning and a minimum of 7 years experience in HVAC&R design OR High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 7 years experience in HVAC&R design Slide 9 Complete the Application: Complete the online application form at www.ashrae.org/certification or call customer service at www.ashrae.org/certification 1-800-527-4724 (US and Canada) or 404-636-8400 (Worldwide) Slide 10 Schedule an Examination: Click on the Testing Centers Worldwide link under the appropriate certification at www.ashrae.org/certification.www.ashrae.org/certification Examinations are offered on computer at over 300 testing centers. The HBDP examination is 2.5 hours and has 115 multiple choice questions. Centers currently located in Beijing, Manila, Quito, San Juan, San Pedro, Singapore, Taipei, and Tokyo. Slide 11 Review Available Resources: Each certification Guidebook identifies available resources that may help candidates gain an understanding of the body of knowledge the examination tests. Available resources include ASHRAE-owned and non-ASHRAE owned publications and courses. Some ASHRAE members pass the examination from their working knowledge and familiarity with ASHRAE Standards and Publications. Slide 12 Renew Your Certification: Each certification holder must earn 45 ASHRAE Continuing Education units (ACEs) during the three year period following initial certification or the last renewal.
