Ayurved

The term Ayurved means the science by which life is

understood in its totality. The word is composed of

two parts

Ayush This means a combination of body, sense

organs, mind and soul.

Veda This means the knowledge or learning.

This system of medicine is popular for emphasis on

preventive care along with the treatment of the

disease conditions, as is indicated in the Sanskrit

verse from ancient texts -

Hitahitam sukham dukhamayustasya hitahitam,

Ayurved has been in existence since time immemorial. According to authentic Ayurvedic

texts, Brahma had composed Ayurved even before creating the universe. Brahma taught it to

Daksha Prajapati who in turn passed it on. The descent is as below -
