Investors set up JV for biogas

liquefaction co-located at

Philippine sugar mill

“ In the Philippines, Aboitiz Equity Ventures has set up a JV with

Gazasia called Aseagas Corporation and will invest in a 9,000

ton per year biogas liquefaction plant co-located a sugarcane

mill in Batangas Province as its first project. The fuel will be

used to power buses and trucks. Cryostar will build the

liquefaction machinery.

BIOTECHCORP NURTURE AND ACCELERATE GROWTH OF MALAYSIAN BIOTECHNOLOGY INDUSTRY

As a Bio-industry Developer, we:

• Accelerate and enhance the growth of the Bio-Based Industry

• Planned and realize maximum value through strategic ventures

• Selectively forge ventures with ‘best-in-class’ global bio-based partners

• Create iconic hub of bio-based industry in Malaysia

• Offer truly exciting investment climate for visionaries and investors

Page 33: Asia Biogas Conference 2015 (Clean Copy)

BIOTECHCORP’S ROLE IN BIOGAS INDUSTRY

• To take the initiative to consolidate with the myriad agencies and stakeholders in the industry to create a commercial path for the development of biogas in the country.

• To support the national strategy to emphasis on research and development in biogas industry and to turn biogas into higher value products.

• Using Biotechnology as the game changer of the Bioeconomy of the country.

STRENGTHS CHALLENGES WORLD CLASS COMPANIES & CONGLOMERATES i.e. SIME DARBY, PETRONAS, FELDA, GENTING, IOI

LIMITED AREA FOR PLANTATION EXPANSION, FORCING PALM GROWERS TO VENTURE FURTHER DOWNSTREAM

READY & WELL-ESTABLISHED INFRASTRUCTURE, DEDICATED, CUSTOMIZED INDUSTRIAL PARKS

LIMITED TECHNOLOGY KNOW-HOW, WILL REQUIRE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH TECHNOLOGY PROVIDERS

ADVANCED ENGINEERING CAPABILILTIES FROM BOTH PALM OIL & THE PETROCHEMICAL INDUSTRIES

LIMITED EXPERIENCE IN SCALING UP BIO-BASED PROJECTS

PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES TO COMPLEMENT WITH THE STRATEGIC PROJECTS. i.e. PETRONAS RAPID, JOHOR & PETRONAS GIPC, KUANTAN

VERY COMPETITIVE REGIONAL INVESTMENT LANDSCAPE

Page 35: Asia Biogas Conference 2015 (Clean Copy)

BIOTECHNOLOGY & BIOGAS SYNERGIES: VALUE CREATION AND ENRICHMENT

Biogas is the center block for energy and feedstock for the

biotechnology value chain

The adoption of biotechnology in the biogas industry will increase

the biogas production yield and promotes the creation of high

value downstream products

Biogas can be slated to become the new export revenue for

Malaysia i.e. export of Bio-DME will create additional USD 5 Billion

revenue to the country. (30% utilization of biogas)

The availability of biogas or natural gas equivalent will cater for the

domestic economic growth by creating more investment, higher

nation’s productivity and ultimately creates economics multiplier to

the country
