About ADC
The 10th Asia Pacific Drying Conference (ADC) will be held in Vadodara, India during December 14-17,
2019. The ADC series of biennial conferences was established in 1997 by Prof. A. Kamaruddin of Bogor
University, Indonesia and Prof. Arun S. Mujumdar of McGill University, Canada. It is modelled after the
widely acclaimed biennial International Drying Symposium Series (IDS) which was initiated in 1978.
The conference venue has since moved to several countries including China (2 times), Malaysia (2
times), India, Thailand, Hong Kong etc. The 10th ADC in 2019 plans to bring together more than 300
stakeholders, from research organizations, academic institutions, non-governmental organizations, indus-
tries and professional associations, in a single platform for exchange and dissemination of ideas and
recent research findings on fundamentals and applications of drying. The conference is being organized
by National Institute of Technology Rourkela, India with major support from diverse industries in
Gujarat and other states in India.
National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela is an institution of national
importance funded by Ministry of Human Resource Development. NIT Rourkela
was established as Regional Engineering College (REC) on August 15, 1961. It is
one of the premier national level institutions for technical education in the country.
The main objective of the institute is to produce quality engineers and scientists in
graduate, post-graduate and doctoral levels in various branches of Engineering and Science. NIT
Rourkela was ranked 601-800 in the world by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings
of 2018 and 126th in Asia. In India, it was ranked 15 among engineering colleges by the National
Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2018.

Vadodara, formerly called Baroda, is a city in Gujurat, a state in
western India. A maximum number of drying and related industries
(>3000) are in Pune, Mumbai, Vapi, Surat, Ankleshwar, Bharuch,
Ahmedabad, Rajkot and Jamnagar. Vadodara is center to all of
these places. There are four airports easily connecting to Vadodara
(Mumbai, Surat, Vadodara and Ahmedabad) as well as Vadodara is
well connected by rail and road (expressway).
