The mission of Asia Pacific Hernia Society (APHS) is to provide a professional forum for education and exchange of information on diagnosis and management of abdominal wall hernias. The vision of APHS is to impart awareness about the art and safe practice of contemporary hernia surgery in the region.

This program has been designed as a structured and systematic introduction to best established international hernia surgery practices that exist today.

The Diploma in Hernia Essentials training course of APHS comprises 3 modules

1. Hernia Essentials Basics (1 day, didactics)

2. Hernia Essentials Practical (2 days, Live Surgery, Endotraining, soft cadaver/animal workshop)

3. Hernia Essentials Fellowship (2 weeks by prior appointment at APHS Centre of Excellence)

Each Course module is conducted separately. A surgeon should have attended Hernia Essentials Basics course to be eligible to attend the Hernia Essentials Practical course and Fellowship.

A Course certification would be presented at the conclusion of each module (Hernia Essentials Basics, Hernia Essentials Practical and Hernia Essentials Fellowship).

On completion of all modules, participants shall be awarded the Diploma in Hernia Essentials of APHS at a ceremony during the annual APHS congress.
