Bedrooms  and  bathrooms  face  the  south.  

The  entrance  porch  is  facing  north  while  the  kitchen  faces  west  in  this  building.    West  side  has  minimum  window  openings.    

The  central  courtyard,  external  pa@os  and  study  room  face  east,  shaded  from  aAernoon  sun.    

 

 External  finish  of  this  building     is   l ight  grey,  this  colour  reduces  heat  gain  by  reflec@ng  solar  radia@on.    

Hollow  bricks  with  double  sand  bricks  for  the  west  facing  external  walls.      

All  windows  openings  and  doors  have  ver@cal  or  horizontal  concrete  sun-­‐shading  slabs  that  extend  450mm  from  the  wall.    

Float  glass  windows  in  the  building.  

Void  with  louvers  above  to  maximize  daylight.

Water  efficient  water  closets,  shower  heads,  basin  taps  and  kitchen  taps.

 All  trees  and  shrubs  for   landscaping  are  na@ve  plants  which  require  no  ar@ficial   irriga@ons.    

The  rebars  and  broken  concrete  blocks  recovered  from  the  demolishing  of  exis@ng  building  were  retained  for  use  in  the  construc@on  of  hand  rails.    

Low  vola@le  organic  compound  (VOC)  paints  have  been  used  for  all  internal  walls.  No  added  urea  formaldehyde  products,VOC  adhesives  or  sealants  were  used.
