Innovation Lab at AIT Solutions is a creativity hub for students, researchers, innovators, and entrepreneurs to collaborate and develop sustainable and scalable solutions for the benefit of the industry and society.
Can Crusher Robot
• A smart pre-recycling robot that detects and crushes soda cans on the spot. It is connected to a mobile app to allow reward point system.
• It aims to create awareness on importance of can recycling which can eventually drive positive behavior change.

Why
How
What
Who/When
Our product will allow convenience
stores or malls to build traffic, and
drinks brand owners to build
consumer engagement, while at
the same time positively
influencing consumer waste
recycling behaviour and making
the reverse supply chain more
efficient.
By leveraging waste as an opportunity
to engage consumers, driving
behaviour change while at the same
time reducing the waste problem.
We propose an AIT-led, anchor partner-
funded cross-partner workshop in June/July
2018 to co-design, agree on pilot plans and
consider mechanisms for scaling.
Our economic growth model has
burdened the world with a growing
waste problem. We need to
change our growth model to make
it fit for a planet with 10 billion
consumers.
Plastic Bottle Shredder
• We consume 53 billion gallons of bottled water globally. Only 1 in 5 bottles are recycled
• One solution to the plastic waste problem is to recycle post-consumer waste and create a closed loop supply chain so that nothing goes to waste
• Plastic bottle shredder is a reverse vending machine (RVM) that facilitates on the spot waste segregation by detecting plastic bottle and shredding it to be ready for recycling
Tele-rehabilitation Arm
• The tele-rehabilitation robot provides remote physiotherapy services to patients anywhere, anytime.
• The underlying haptic technology of the robot enables the delivery of any clinical assessment or exercise similar to a patient who visits the rehabilitation clinic.
Haptic White Cane
• An assistive technology designed to help the visually impaired to explore their environment through sense of touch and hearing
• It detects environmental information such as obstacles and pits in the ground
• It has GPS tracker to help the person navigate the road
Mobile App for the Blind
• This Mobile App for the Visually Impaired called WAWTA (Thai word meaning eye expression) was developed with an integration of haptic and auditory sensories to help blind people recognize color by placing their mobile phone or tablet in front of the object they want to identify the color.
• It may seem too simple to those who can see, but for the blind it is a very useful app.

Setting up the system (AITS+MDC)1
3 Data processing and generating reports (AITS)
Overall Process
• Setting drones, cameras, and flight path
• Providing training site team for data acquisition
and uploading
• Create appropriate models
• Generate weekly, monthly reports:
o Detailed work progress
o 3D modelling
o Issues identified by AITS engineers ( if any)
o Summary of the work progress
o Construction process
o Progress animation
Site imaging through Drones and Cameras (MDC)2
• Site team takes regular images using drones and
other devices
• Uploads the images to servers

Starbucks’ second-largest market after the US is China,
where it has over 3,300 stores and operates with
virtually no serious competition.
A Beijing-based startup could change that. Luckin
Coffee has opened 525 outlets across China’s major
cities less than nine months after its launch (link in
Chinese). Today the fast-growing company confirmed
it’s closed a $200 million funding round giving it a $1
billion valuation. Investors include Centurium Capital, a
private equity fund founded by the former China head
of Warburg Pincus, and GIC, Singapore’s sovereign
wealth fund.
