    Your Chapter Needs YOU!

Introducing the NEW2014 ASID Michigan Chapter Annual Sponsorship Program

Te Annual Sponsorship Program was developed to address the issue o needing additional unding or the Michi-gan Chapter to augment the unding that comes rom ASID National through membership dues. In CLC discus-sions over the past ew years, the chapters that took this approach ound it to be very successul. It is part o our Chapters Strategic Plan and is being rolled out now because the timing or companies to developbudgets is typically in the late all.

Annual Sponsors can be companies or individuals. We are giving discounts to Industry Partners and the amount othe discount is the amount to become an Industry Partner. So, we are hoping we may also add some new IndustryPartners to our Chapter as well.

Please take a look at the Sponsorship Program and think about colleagues, vendors, contractors or anyone whomight benefit rom a strong relationship with Michigan Interior Designers. It really is a GREA opportunity! Iyou have someone in mind to contact, please reach out to either Debbie Gonzalez (248-649-6770/[email protected]) or Suzanne Buckley (586-383-3656/[email protected] ) or urther inormation including the Applica-

tion Forms. While this is an ongoing effort, the benefits apply or the 2014 Calendar year so sign-up timing by theend o the year is a actor.

Te Holiday Season is Here! While this time o year brings celebration, good ood & cheer, it also provides an op-portunity to reflect on the New Year ahead and the proessional goals that will make it more successul than theprevious year.As many o you know, beginning January 2014, ASID members will be required to complete 10 CEU credits everytwo years. Tis is a noticeable increase rom previous years. And while we will be doing our very best to providebeneficial learning opportunities on the local level, ASID national can also serve as a highly valuable resource tomake this happen or you.Heres the scoop on CEUs and an overview o what ASID national can offer:Te ASID Board o Directors approved an increase o required CEUs or all members in the Allied, Proessionaland Associate categories. Currently, ASID has the lowest CEU requirement (0.6) among the organizations repre-senting the built environment. Raising CEU requirements brings ASID in line with its industry peers and expandsmember knowledge. Tis member requirement strengthens the interior design proession by improving individualattitudes, competencies, knowledge and skills in subject areas essential to the growth and success o the industry.Effective Jan. 1, 2014, the CEU requirement will increase rom 0.6 to 1.0 (i.e., 10 hours). Note that this does not a-ect the current reporting period, requiring 0.6 CEUs by Dec. 31, 2013. Te first reporting period with the new 1.0CEU requirement will begin January 1, 2014 and end on Dec. 31, 2015.ASID is also expanding eligible CEUs making it easier to reach 1.0. Approved CEUs such as webinars and chapterevents will continue, with the addition o activities such as authoring a book or article, keynote speaking engage-ments, receiving tenure and more.Practitioner members (proessional, allied, associate members) o the Society will be required to complete 10 con-tact hours o continuing education coursework every two years. o qualiy, coursework must be taken rom anapproved provider such as:IDCECState Regulatory BoardCIDA-accredited college/university

You can also take online courses or credit at anytime at ASID UNi - www.asiduni.org or visit the IDCEC websiteand click on Events Calendar. ASID-UNi offers dozens o tailored, interactive e-learning solutions or practitionerand Industry Partner members and is designed specifically or the interior design industry. It offers IDCEC ap-proved CEUs online 24-7 aimed at some o interior designs most pressing health saety, welare and general prac-tice issues. ap into the ASID Web Events or live and on-demand webinars that are convenient, affordable and easyto access while never leaving the comorts o your home or office.Another valuable resource are the courses offered under ASIDs new Business Strategies curriculum designed toprovide our members with the tools and knowledge needed to succeed in todays competitive marketplace.Te ASID Business Strategies courses each provide 0.1 o IDCEC-approved credit per hour.
