DISCLAIMERThis yearbook was produced entirely by students in a learning situation. These students were responsible for layout, copy, and picture selection on each page. Unlike a lot of schools, our pages were sent to the publisher “camera ready,” which means that all photos, copy, captions and headlines (using Adobe InDesign) were built at school. Given the limitations of time and budget, it was our goal to give fair and equal coverage to all aspects of school life, August through April, which was our final deadline for a May delivery. Consequently, any omissions or errors are purely accidental and are no way intentional on the part of the yearbook staff, the advisor, or the printer. Finally, every page was proofread before it was sent to the printer. We regret misspelled words, missing punctuation, and misspelled names. We offer our apologies to anyone affected.

2014-2015
Letter from the EditorTo the class of 2015: We made it!! And I am so grateful to have had all of you as a support system throughout the last three years of my life. I’ll never forget our class trips, Christmas parties, and certainly not the third years’ memorable second night ever at ASMS, featuring the Elvis impersonator that, thankfully, did not drive us all away from this place. Thanks for the nights we all spent studying for Physics, creating our Western Thought Finals, sharing food(!!), jamming out at Open Mic Nights, watching Netflix at Senior Night, and fighting till death at dodgeball. Our high school experience has been like none other, and I feel so lucky to have known you guys through it all.
To all students, faculty, and staff: This year was one of huge changes, but also great steps forward. Throughout this yearbook, it’s been my hope to capture the moments that are important to all of us, to remind us all of the importance to play just as hard as we work. Countless hours were spent retrieving pictures, deciding on layouts, and coming up with clever captions. It’s been the joy of my year to create a book that holds the memories we’ll cherish for a lifetime.

Dedication
ASMS honored Dr. Albert Lilly for his 23 years of service to the school as computer science instructor. Dr. Lilly supported ASMS in multiple ways beyond just teaching in the classroom. He was always willing to volunteer, chaperone, and participate in student activities. He led the way with donating items for student events and consistently contributing to the ASMS Foundation. Dr. Lilly demonstrated his love for ASMS through his service and devotion since the school was founded. The faculty and staff hosted a retirement luncheon for Dr. Lilly on August 21, 2014. Afterwards, the students had an opportunity to express their appreciation of Dr. Lilly at the afternoon assembly. The students revealed a surprise video presentation and a banner full of well wishes. We wish him the best with his future endeavors as he enjoys his retirement.
“Teaching at ASMS has been truly a blessing,” Lily said. “I have been an employee for 23 years, but now it is time to retire for health reasons. “When I was hired, most computers were selling with 1M of RAM. We bought computers with 4M of RAM but those computers would not run much today. The administration did not have a computer right away. In fact, no one had a computer for several months. Then we got one classroom equipped with computers. Technology has certainly changed drastically over the past 23 years. When I began teaching at ASMS, no one had a cell phone. “I certainly would like to wish everyone the best experience at ASMS. May God bless each and every one of you.”
DR. ALBERT LILY
FALL TERM
MOVE-IN DAY
In this past year, students and faculty have seen many improvements to the ASMS campus. This included the girl’s dorm bathrooms being renovated, the TV room and dorms getting new furniture, new arcade games in the game room, the bowling alley being turned into a fitness room, new library computers, a new president, Dr. Motley, new director of student services, Miss Williams, and new vice president, Mr. Hoyle.
CAMPUS CHANGES
DRESS CODE Every year, the ASMS Senior Class demonstrates at the Dress Code Assembly exactly how NOT to dress and behave at school. And every year, ASMS incomings are wondering just what exactly they got themselves into.
SPIRIT WEEKSpirit week was a fun-filled week of students dressing up to encourage hall spirit. For each student who dressed up, a hall got ten points! Each day of the week was a different theme: Monday- pajama day/tacky day; Tuesday- twin day/celebrity day; Wednesday- cross dress day/team spirit day; and Friday was hall t-shirt day. By dressing up students were able to show their ‘goofy’ side in preparation for Goofy Olympics on Friday afternoon.
GOOFY OLYMPICSWith a much competitive spirit roaming through ASMS, students ended Spirit Week with a bang with Goofy Olympics. Students participated in many fun activities, like a potato sack race, tug of war, and other goofy activities. Each activity was scored by judges and announced at the nest assembly. The winner of Goofy Olympics this year was Curie Hall.
SENIOR TRIP
In September, ASMS students and teachers participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, which was hosted by Beta Club and FCA, to show support for people living with ALS. The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge grew popular from social media. During a Thursday assembly, everyone gathered around the front steps as a production line of buckets, water, and ice began. More than 75 students participated, along with faculty. More than $300 was raised for ALS patients. The students challenged president Dr. Motley and previous president Dr. Turner to participate as well. Similarly, as a part of Drug Free week, TADAA took part in an activist demonstration: 30% of the student body spent a day completely silent, with white faces, and a hypothetical cause of death attached to their bodies.
RAISING AWARENESS
GEEKFEST“Mulligan, what a nice house you have, Mamma Mia!” These are all a part of the sound track that is “Geekfest.” Not only do you stay up until 4:00 a.m. playing video games and eating junk food, but the school puts it on! Some students destroy the creepers in Minecraft, while others dance the night away playing “Just Dance 4.” It is one night for all the geekiness on campus to explode into a Poindexter explosion! Waking up is another ball game…

PREVIEWDAYThis school year, we had not one, but two Preview Days! On Preview Day, Ambassadors collaborate with students and teachers to highlight the best elements of ASMS. Teachers show short presentations about their classes, and some students even wake up to take a peek at the prospective students. After the tours of the school have been completed, prospective students get a chance to talk to current students, RLSTs, and Ambassadors as they eat in the courtyard. It is tradition for the Jazz and Garage Bands to play music for the crowd as they enjoy lunch. Preview Day is always a success thanks to the many faculty, staff, and students that devote their time to display the best aspects of ASMS!
WINTER FORMAL December 6 was the night that all ASMS students needed to hold them over until Christmas Break. Students danced the night away to Beyonce’s “Flawless”, Fall Out Boy’s “Dance, Dance”, Ingrid Michelason’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love”, and the all-time favorites “Cha-Cha Slide” and “The Wobble.” The night was elegant, classy, and crunk. Held at the Stewartfield House at Spring Hill College, “it was definitely the best Winter Formal I’ve been to,” says ASMS senior Alex Lake.

Sophomore trip
SOPHOMORE TRIP On Saturday, March 28, the sophomore class took a day trip to New Orleans. Their first stop was a swamp tour. Students loaded up on boats and were guided down a Louisiana river to observe houses, wildlife, and the beauty of the outdoors. One of the most popular events on the tour was when the tour guides lured wild hogs within hands-reach of the boat! Students then visited the French Quarter. Many students stopped by antique shops, watched street performers, awed at the architecture of the buildings, and tried beignets for their first time. The trip ended at Mulatte’s, but their fun did not! Sophomores were able to have a great class-bonding experience and made memories that will last a lifetime!
JUNIOR TRIPIn March, Juniors took their class trip and toured colleges such as the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Birmingham Southern College. The high point, of course, was Six Flags Over Georgia, where they got to experience the many thrill rides and performances of the park, such as Goliath and Superman.
