Clarify the learning outcomes
To Clarify essential learning outcomes using State Standards and District Curriculum Frameworks, collaborative teams:
• Build a shared knowledge of what it is we want all students to know, understand, and be able to do as a result of this unit, course. Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum
• Work together to clarify essential learning. • What is it our students must learn?• What is the best way to sequence their learning?• What are the critical skills, knowledge and dispositions
each student must acquire as a result of each course?

Identify and gather evidence/data of student learning
To identify and gather evidence of student learning, collaborative teams:
• Identify what will serve as evidence of the essential learning (connected to the Guaranteed Viable Curriculum)
• Create common formative assessments to determine each student’s mastery of learning
• Created collaboratively, • Given on a regular and frequent basis to all
students enrolled in the same course• Administered at about the same time
• Bring student work to the team to assess learning

Analyze that evidence/data
When analyzing evidence of student learning (data) collaborative teams:
• Evaluate samples of student work using an agreed upon criteria
• Identify strengths, weaknesses and learning gaps for students
• Identify students who need additional timeand support for learning and extending and enriching
• Coordinate plans to respond when some students do not learn

When identifying the most powerful teaching strategies, collaborative teams:
• Use the results from the analysis of student work to identify and search for the best research-based practices to address gaps in student learning.
• Benefit from the instructional strengths of team members
• Commit to an open environment for sharing, reflecting and learning to support student learning

When implementing strategies, collaborative teams:
•Commit to using team-identified strategies in the classroom
•Plan timely and effective ways to gather evidence of student learning based on the strategies that were implemented
•Use student self-assessment and reflection to gather feedback on effectiveness

When assessing the effectiveness of strategies, collaborative teams:
• Determine commonly agreed upon criteria to assess the impact of the strategy – rubric, check sheet
• Assess impact on student learning
• Reflect with the team on individual and team learning
• Commit to implementing the PLC cycle of continuous improvement
