ASSESSMENT CRITERIA & ESCA LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Learning Outcomes
Practicals are set so that students are able to acquire the following skills to meet the ECSA developmental
learning outcomes (ELO4: Investigations, experiments and data analysis; ELO6: Professional & technical
communication and ELO8: Individual, team and multidisciplinary work) .
At the end of the practical, you should be able to:
1. Demonstrate the competencies to use a research approach to study an engineering problem and/or
phenomenon.2.
Communicate effectively in writing a report.3. Use appropriate and correct structure, style and language in a technical context.
4. Use effective graphical support, including computer generated figures and drawings.5. Demonstrate ability to deliver a fluent and effective oral presentation using appropriate visual
aids to disseminate and defend engineering findings to a targeted audience.6.
Show the activities of the group during conduction of the assignment/project.
7. Come up with a strategy to be used to plan and work effectively as a team so as to meet adeadline, as well as ensuring the responsibility of each one.
2. Report Structure
The report should address the following:

(Skills to be addressed)
1
ELO4
An understanding of what problem/phenomenon is being investigated
and why.
2 A critical literature review on the relevant research.
3 A well-structured methodology for the conduction of the research.
4 Discussions about the method used and its limitations.
5Analyses, interpretation and validation of the results. The results should
be benchmarked with acceptable range obtained from Literature review.
6
Conclusions made on the basis of evidences emanating from the
investigation. The report should reflect the extent to which the practical is
relevant in the Real world.
