Chapter No.1

Interface

An interface is a tool and concept that refers to a point of interaction between components, and is applicable at the level of both hardware and

software.

SPLIT/WINDOW AIR CONDITIONER

A split air conditioner is a home appliance that get mounted on wall and

designed to reduce humidity and remove heat from an area. The cooling is

done through refrigeration cycle to provide comfort in hot or cool season.In split air conditions cooling system, heat is drawn from the room and

discharged to the environment, permitting each room to be cooled

separately. The main advantage of split air conditioner is, it do not

consume space on floor and easily get placed on wall. some people find

them unattractive because they are often bulky and can block out light if

mounted in a window.

MONITOR/LCD/TFT

A monitor or display (also called screen or visual display unit) is an

electronic visual display for computers. The monitor comprises the

display device, circuitry, and an enclosure. The display device in modern

monitors is typically a thin film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-

LCD) thin panel, while older monitors use a cathode ray tube about as

deep as the screen size.

A liquid crystal display (LCD) is a flat panel display, electronic visualdisplay, or video display that uses the light modulating properties of liquid

crystals (LCs). LCs does not emit light directly.



QWERTY mobiles or touch screen mobiles

QWERTY is the most common modern-day keypad layout. The name

comes from the first six letters (keys) appearing in the top left letter row

of the keyboard, read left to right: Q-W-E-R-T-Y. The QWERTY design

is based on a layout created for the Sholes and Glidden typewriter andsold to Remington in the same year, when it first appeared in typewriters.

A touch screen mobile is an electronic visual display that can detect the

presence and location of a touch within the display area. The term

generally refers to touching the display of the device with a finger or

hand.

I have a General Window AC in my room and thinking of changing it to

Split AC only to reduce power consumption. Interface of split ac is

always elegant on its first sight but it is difficult to operate for new user

because no buttons are involved in it, while in window ac buttons are

involved and is easy to install as compared to split ac. But my research onthe internet it kind of interesting to note that both model of AC (Same

BTU) consumes almost same amount of electricity. If it's true, then there

is no need to change.

In split AC, they have merely divided the Window AC in 2 parts and as

such there should be no reason for low power consumption. On the other

hand, the efficiency of Window AC is better as there is no long piping

involved as we have in Split AC. In split ac blour air duct is wide, sleek

and it swings horizontally while in window ac it swings vertically.

I have used screen monitor are simple to operate and is very attractive in

its result of videos because it is made up of glass tube,its interface is easy

as compared to lcd because it has buttons while lcd's have buttons and is

associated in lcd software. Flat-panel technology varies, but currently, the

best monitors are made with IPS (In-plane switching) technology. High

levels of brightness and a broad-range contrast ratio will result in brighter



colors and more color depth. Monitors with LED backlighting should

have the best of both of these. Look for quick response times to lessen

blur from on-screen movement. In addition, you will want wide viewing

angles so that the picture can be seen from a broader area within a room.

I am using touch screen mobile nokia 5530 express music its interface is

quite impressive as compared to any other mobile such as qwerty pad

mobiles querty mobile is difficult to use because it has many buttons and

is complex also, in my opinion touch screen is far better than qwerty cell.

Changing settings in touch screen such as themes, date, alarm, storing and

deleting the numbers and writing the messages is easy.

The touch screen cell phone is all the rage these days. Using this hot

interface makes flipping through photos, navigating around web pages,

selecting options and even typing, into a series of elegant gestures. No

more arguing with your phone’s keypad as you try to type a text message

using individual buttons that represent three or more different characters.

The whole process becomes instinctive.

RESULTS OF OBSERVATION

The results of my observation is that the when a user interacting with a

device of today .The color of the screen affect human vision, its nature of

human that color full things make happy .My client is feel easy to interact

with his device because the color screen, and second thing I observed that

the wide screen of the device displays more than one feature of the device

so it very easy to interact with the options quickly. The third thing is the

physical structure of the device is slim and wide .User can hold easily for

a long time in his hand

ANALYSIS

I analysis that nokia product have some harder tasks and easier tasks to

perform as compared to HTC and HTC have a problem that I analyzed

.first I mention the harder task of nokia is to use of key board it need

button pressing of single button for many character. and also its have

very small screen user can’t see complete dropdown options list at a time

it need pressing of buttons many times the easier task with the nokia cell

phone is it can easily be used by an illiterate person for his basic need of

calling someone .second the HTC product is full of features but one

drawback is the screen become dirty by touching the finger consistently.

this drawback is a demerit for touch screen
