FACING ARTISTS FROM AROUND THE WORLDWelcome to the ASSITEJ International Meeting in Linz!

Die ASSITEJ ist stolz, Sie zum zweiten ASSITEJ International Meeting unter dem Motto FACING THE ARTIST in Linz und Österreich zu begrüßen.

Im Kern dreht sich die Vision der ASSITEJ seit ihrem Bestehen um die künstlerische Arbeit ihrer Mitglieder. Die Anliegen der ASSITEJ sind sowohl die Auseinandersetzung mit zeitgenössischen Tendenzen und die Förderung von NachwuchskünstlerInnen als auch internationale Kooperationen, das gegenseitige Lernen voneinander und der Dialog zwischen professionellen Theaterschaffenden, der es den KünstlerInnen erlaubt, ihre Arbeit zu hinterfragen und neue künstlerische Strategien zu entwickeln.

Dieser Fokus auf die künstlerische Praxis bringt neue Impulse hervor und hebt unsere Arbeit auf ein immer neues künstlerisches Niveau. Darüber hinaus werden Fragen nach Qualität undKontext, nach kulturellen Identitäten, nach künstlerischen Formen und Zielsetzungen aufgeworfen und der Blick darauf gerichtet, wer unser Gegenüber ist und wie wir mit ihm kommunizieren.

Wir bedanken uns beim Internationalen Theaterfestival SCHÄXPIR, dem Land Ober österreich und dem österreichischen Außenministerium für die Unterstützung und laden alle Künstler und KünstlerInnen ein, sich in den zahlreichen Veranstaltungen des Meetings auf vielfältige Art und Weise zu begegnen! Wir freuen uns auf 8 Tage voller spannender Auseinandersetzungen rund um künstlerische Perspektiven mit Blick auf darstellende Kunst für junges Publikum!

ASSITEJ is proud to welcome you in Linz to the 2nd annual International Meeting, focused on FACING THE ARTIST.

The vision of ASSITEJ has always had at its heart this focus on the artistic work of our members –the identification and discussion of new tendencies, the development and support of emergingartists, the international collaboration and learning that allow artistic practices to evolve and transform, the dialogue between professionals that allows artists to question, rethink their practices, and imagine new possibilities for working. It is this focus on artistic practice and the artist that we believe re-energizes the field, that spreads new impulses and that lifts the level of work. It also raises difficult questions around quality and context, cultural identity andglobalization, artistic purpose and form, who we are addressing and how we go about this.

Thanks to the SCHÄXPIR Festival as our host and all the supporters of this meeting – most notably the province of Upper Austria and the Austrian Foreign Ministry.

We invite all artists – whether ASSITEJ members or not – to engage with us in this dialogue, and we anticipate a rich artistic exchange with you in these 8 days with inspiring and controversial discussions.

INTERNATIONAL ENCOUNTERAn 3 Terminen sind alle KünstlerInnnen und TheatermacherInnen des International Meetings und des SCHÄXPIR Festivals eingeladen zu Austausch und Begegnungen. Diskutiert werden aktuelle inhaltliche Fragen des Theaters für junges Publikum auf der ganzen Welt. Was sind Tabus im Theater für Kinder und Jugendliche? Schrecken wir vor ihnen zurück? Wenn wirfragen, was wir nicht tun würden, beschäftigen wir uns auch mit unseren eigenen Beschränkungen, die – geleitet von KünstlerInnen aus vier Kontinenten – im Workshop erkundet werden.

Es handelt sich um einen geschlossenen Workshop. Die TeilnehmerInnen wurden im Vorfeld ausgewählt. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––A seminar and workshop led by artists from four continents. Which are the taboos in TYA? Are we as artists tackling the most important subjects in TYA? By asking what we dare not do we face important questions about our own limitations, which will be explored through practical exercises.

Die Arbeit mit jungen Menschen auf der Bühne wird im Spannungsfeld von Kunst und Pädagogik betrachtet. In Österreich ist die Anzahl der Theater, die mit Kindern und Jugendlichen künstlerische Potentiale erkunden groß. Mit internationalen KollegInnen diskutieren österreichische Fachleute über Ihre Arbeit.––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––Working with young people as performers is always perceived within a context of both art and pedagogy – between process (personal development) and product in terms of artistic achievement. SCHÄXPIRInternationales Theaterfestival / International Theatre Festival

Zum siebten Mal findet heuer das Internationale Theaterfestival SCHÄXPIR für junges Publikum statt. Vom 20. bis zum 30. Juni werden in Linz rund 40 Theaterproduktionen aus dem In und Ausland zu sehen sein. Zusätzlich wird es Vorstellungen in den oberösterreichischen Städten Bad Ischl und Braunau geben, um Kindern und Jugendlichen abseits der viel bespielten Bühnen die Chance zu geben, neue und ungewohnte Kulturimpulse aufnehmen zu können.

An elf Tagen im Juni werden in Oberösterreich aber nicht nur Kinder und Jugendliche angesprochen, sondern selbstverständlich auch das erwachsene Publikum. Mit einem professionellen und innovativen Programm zeigt SCHÄXPIR, dass die Theaterkunst für junges Publikum in jeder Form und für alle Altersgruppen ein ernstzunehmendes Genre ist.

Mit Impulsen aus der internationalen Szene sowie mit einem umfangreichen Dialog und Workshopangebot bietet SCHÄXPIR auch den heimischen Theaterleuten die Möglichkeit Teil des großen Theaternetzwerkes zu sein.

SCHÄXPIR zeigt acht Uraufführungen sowohl der großen heimischen Theater als auch freier Theatergruppen und zahlreiche österreichische Erstaufführungen. Ganz nach dem Motto DIE SPATZEN PFEIFEN ES VON DEN DÄCHERN wird SCHÄXPIR 2013 für Kinder und Jugendliche in Oberösterreich den Kulturhorizont mit internationalen, überraschenden und inspirierenden Erlebnissen bereichern.

From 20th to 30th June 2013 the International Theatre Festival SCHÄXPIR goes into its seventh round. In 2013 SCHÄXPIR presents in Linz around forty theatre productions for young audience from Austria and abroad. Additionally, with guest performances in the cities of Braunau and Bad Ischl SCHÄXPIR also disseminates the pleasure and passion of theatre to young people away from the big stages.

In the course of eleven days in June SCHÄXPIR addresses children and teenagers as well as an adult audience. With its professional cutting edge program SCHÄXPIR proofs that thea-tre for young audiences in all its variety is an exciting experience for all ages.

With impulses from the international scene and an extensive program of debates and work-shops SCHÄXPIR offers local artists the opportunity to become part of the network.

SCHÄXPIR shows eight premieres from local theatres and fringe groups as well as numerous Austrianpremieres. Once again SCHÄXPIR will broaden the horizon of children, teenagers and adults in Upper Austria with surprising and inspiring theatre acts!
