VACANCY NOTIFICATION Posting Date: September 20, 2018 ASSOCIATE DEAN OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATHEMATICS Hudson County Community College is an award-winning, comprehensive urban college located just across the Hudson River from Manhattan in Jersey City and Union City, NJ. With its new state- of-the-art 70,000 square-foot STEM Building and new programs in Construction Management, Cybersecurity, and Biotechnology, HCCC is establishing STEM as a signature division. To lead these programs, the College is currently searching for an Associate Dean of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). We seek an innovative leader for this steadily growing division of over 1400 students. This is a unique opportunity for a pioneering educator-leader to develop and implement 21st-century programs, pedagogies, and partnerships to help a diverse population of students succeed. Reporting to the Dean of Instruction, the Associate Dean of STEM supervises a faculty of approximately 20 full-time and 80 contingent instructors, oversees and directs the ongoing operation of the STEM division, ensures excellence of curriculum and instruction, oversees the STEM facility, equipment and budget, manages external partnerships and develops short and long- term strategic initiatives that support the College’s mission. The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of the mission of an urban community college and be able to effectively lead an organization involving diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. Candidates must have strong leadership and managerial skills, knowledge of trends in higher education and educational technology, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Requirements:

A master’s degree (a Ph.D. is preferred) in a STEM field from a regionally accredited institution of higher education, as well as a minimum of three years of program management (preferably at the community college level) are required. Finalists will be required to submit official transcripts.
