Position Objective This role is responsible for creating and delivering services and amenities on campus that provide an excellent student and staff experience and increases engagement, participation and use of the university’s facilities by the university and local community. Additionally, the role is responsible for the commercial management of all Campus Life contracts and tenancies.
Reporting Relationships
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Provide strategic and operational advice in relation to all activities conducted in the Campus Services portfolio.
• Manage the staff, resources and performance of the Campus Services team to execute strategy, policy, projects and
programs, drive innovation and best practice, and improve the overall student and staff experience.
• Cultivate constructive relationships with the Student Guild and other key stakeholders.
• Develop, implement and maintain a culture of continuous improvement.
• Oversee the Campus Services budget across the services, including development of capital expenditure proposals.
• Develop and manage all leases and licences and maintain an accurate tenancy schedule.
• Proactively identify and develop opportunities to realise income from the university’s assets in downtime.
• Ensure all Campus Services infrastructure has the capacity to meet the developing demands on each campus, and is
appropriately renewed to meet contemporary needs.
• Lead the commercial management and value creation of Campus Life contracts.
• Ensure the University complies with all statutory requirements within the office.
• Collaborate with elements of Support divisions and Academic groups to improve Campus Services alignment and
outcomes.
• Represent the interests of the University through the preparation of submissions and in direct negotiations with external
bodies at the City, State and Federal level.
• Lead and promote compliance with relevant legislation and University policies and procedures, including equity and
health & safety and exhibit good practice in relation to same.
• Lead and promote fair, ethical and professional work practices in accordance with the University Code of Conduct.
SELECTION CRITERIA

• Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline such as Finance or an MBA or, an equivalent combination of
relevant experience and/or education/training, and professional registration in a discipline relative to qualifications.
• Extensive knowledge of and proven experience in the successful management of a wide range of student and
community services usually provided within tertiary education institutions.
• Proven experience, in the public or private sector in consulting, contracting, property management and commercial
leasing or in a number of the business units that comprise Campus Services.
• Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to the strategic direction of a large, diverse organisation, and high level
skills in policy development and implementation, as well as project and change management.
• Demonstrated exceptional leadership and management skills at both strategic and operational levels, including
effective management of a team of multi-disciplinary professional staff.
• Outstanding interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, and demonstrated ability to build productive
relationships with the University community, stakeholders, external authorities and contractors.
• Demonstrated experience in budget preparation and management, as well as development of capital expenditure
proposals.
• Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills.
