Happy Father’s Day! A man was standing in the backyard of his house talking to his neighbor. He said. “My wife and I attended the best ever lecture on how to keep your memory sharp." “Who gave the lecture?,” the neighbor asked. The man paused for a moment trying to think, and then he said: “What do you call those beautiful flowers which are red and have a long stem and thorns?” His Neighbor said: “A rose!” He said, “That's right, a rose.” Then he turned towards the back door of his house and yelled. “Hey, Rose, what was the name of the person who gave the lecture today?” (From Guiding Light). Please don’t forget to wish all men Happy Fathers Day, especially our dads. For those who feel wronged by the man who is meant to be their loving dad, it is also a day to forgive, approach them and say, “I love you Dad and I forgive you, Happy Fathers Day”. For our Pastor, Father Jim, you are also our Father, by the fact that you teach the ways of the Lord and feed God's people with Heavenly bread, the Eucharist. We pray for you as you prepare yourself to celebrate your 20th Priestly anniversary on June 25, Happy Fathers Day to you also. One of the reasons that Islam was able to convert masses in North Africa was its radical preaching on mono-theism, as opposed to Christianity teaching of One God but three persons. Missionaries to Sub-Sahara Africa had difficulties convincing the people that God had a son; they wanted to know who he had that son with and they wanted to know if God was married. The Holy Trinity is one of the most distinguishing marks of our faith; every Sunday, the Church expresses her Trinitarian faith by professing a belief in the oneness of God in whom there are three persons. The three Divine persons, Father, Son and the Holy Spirit are distinct, yet of the same Substance. Each of the three divine peo-ple equally possesses the fullness of the one and indivisible divine nature. The Father generates the Son; the Son is generated by the Father while the Holy Spirit proceeds from both the Father and the Son. The Nicene Creed was formulated to define, among other things, the co-eternity and co-substantiality of the Father with the Son. Jesus is not created but begotten of the Father. Jesus has Two Natures. He is both divine and human, hypostatically united (fully Divine and fully human). Ancient arguments revolved around the divinity and humanity of Christ. Some arguments were in favor that he was “just a super human” others thought he was only divine. Arius, (a Priest) using the letter to Colossians 1:15, ”Christ is the image of invisible GOD, first born of all creation,” took this verse literally in an argument that Jesus was not God. Sebelius and Paul of Somasota taught that God is One divine person with three different names; it depends on how He manifests Himself. Sometimes He appears as Father, other times as Son or even as Holy Spirit. According to Paul of Somasota, the Logos/Christ is just a mere man (adopted son of God). For Nestorius (Bishop), Jesus was born just a mere man and later Logos entered at birth (He could not imagine Mary carrying “God” in her womb). Jesus was “God bearer” not God. Therefore it is dangerous to call Mary Theotokos (Mother of God) but rather Christokos (Mother of Christ). The church teaches that Christ assumed human nature at incarnation, through the action of the Holy Spirit. “The belief in one God is professed because he has revealed himself to the people of Israel as the only One when He said, “Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord” (Deut6:4) and “there is no other” (Is45:22). Jesus Himself confirmed that God is “the one God” (Mk12:29). (CCC 34) Therefore, to confess that Jesus and the Holy Spirit are also God and Lord does not introduce any division into the one God. The three divine persons are inseparable in their activity. The Trinity has one operation; however, each person is present according to the mode which is proper to him in the Trinity.

Especialmente a nuestros papás.
