ACCA MembershipTo qualify as an ACCA member, students will need to complete:

• Exams - 14 exams

• Ethics - the Professional Ethics module

• Experience - record 36 months experience in a relevant role

Professional Ethics ModuleAs part of their ethical development, ACCA students are required to complete the Professional Ethics Module. This online interactive module will give students exposure to a range of ethical perspectives and includes several self-tests which require students to reflect on their own ethical behaviour and values. Access to the module is provided to students as soon as they become eligible to take Paper P1, Governance, Risk and Ethics.

While students have the flexibility to complete the ethics module in their own time, it should be noted that ethics is one of the requirements of membership and it is therefore recommended that students take the Professional Ethics module at the same time as, or before, the Governance, Risk and Ethics paper. Students appearing for the Diploma in Accounting and Business, will need to complete the Foundations in Professionalism module as part of the requirements. The aim of this interactive component of the qualification is to help students develop an understanding of what it means to act professionally and ethically in the work they carry out.

Practical Experience Requirements (PER)To qualify as an ACCA member, students must complete ACCA’s practical experience requirements (PER).

It is important for students to know the practical application of the knowledge they have gained during the course of their studies.

ACCA students, are therefore required to complete three years’ practical experience before they can become ACCA members.

This experience, alongside the exams and ethical awareness, will mean students are fully prepared for a challenging career as a professional accountant.

To begin achieving the PER, students must:

• Complete 36 months’ employment in an accounting or finance- related role (s)

• Find a workplace mentor

• Achieve 13 performance objectives (including 9 essentials and 4 options)

• Record their progress using the online My Experience record

Please refer to the PER portal at: http://www.accaglobal.com/middle-east/en/employer/supporting-trainees/per.html
