WHAT IS ASTHMA CAMP?Camp Breathe Easy is a 4-day, 3-night summer camp for children living with asthma. Summer camp provides unparalleled opportunities for fun, building self-esteem, and skill-learning. Our mission is to provide our campers with the opportunity to participate in an experience that may not otherwise be available to them, as a child with asthma. Our program includes traditional camp activities as well as educational sessions on living more easily with asthma.

CAMP STAFFCamp is led by a team of highly quali ed staff who are committed to your child having a safe and fun experience at Camp Breathe Easy.

Mindy Benson, MSN, PNP, from UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland is returning for her twelfth year as camp director.

Campers will be grouped in cabins by age and gender. Each cabin will have 3 adult counselors who are experienced working with children who have asthma. Specialists in art, music, sports, and asthma education lead activities. Doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other medical personnel will assist campers in taking and learning about their medication and provide on-site medical care.

WHO CAN ATTEND CAMP?Children with asthma ages 8 to 12 will be considered for this special program. Campers will be admitted on a rst-come, rst-served basis. Age and gender balances will also be considered. Transportation to and from camp will be provided from a central location.

THE APPLICATION PROCESSSubmit applications by May 27, 2016 in order to be considered for acceptance to camp. Children not initially accepted will be added to the wait list and noti ed if a space becomes available. Due to the popularity of Camp Breathe Easy, we will accept new campers who apply by the deadline before we accept returning campers.

The Taylor Family Foundation covers all of the costs for campers. The only charge to campers is a $30 application fee.

Application checks will not be cashed and credit cards will not be charged unless your child is accepted into camp.

If your child is accepted into camp we will send you a packet of informational forms the rst week of June. These forms include a legal waiver, medical history, medication list, and more. These forms are extremely important. No child will be admitted to the camp site without all forms signed and returned by July 1, 2016.
