EDWARD MANGUM(Director) is the founder of the Department of Fine and Performing arts at St. Edward.s Probably most noted for founding the Arena State in Washington D.C., Mr. Mangum has been a theater director, pro ­ducer, professor, author, lecturer and consultant in Europe, Asia and the United States. Under the auspices of the American Nation­al Theater and Academy in New York, he has worked in twenty five countries , including directing

, in the professional theatres of Germany and Turkey. At St. Ed's, Mr. Mangum has worked with a myriad of show business' most talented and popular perfor­mers . Included in the list are Marlow, Mr. Hardcastle, and Hastings

Pernell Roberts, Leonard Nimoy, Mercedes McCambridge, William Shatner, John Carradine and Pat O'Brien. Currently heading the summer program here, Mr. Mangum last directed one of our spring productions, J.B., which starred Adam Wade and Carol Bruce. KEVIN PHINNEY (Tony Lumpkin) is making his debut on the Mary Moody Northen stage. He was understudy to Sonny Bono in THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT . Mr. Phinney is principally a writer and critic of the arts, as well as a social satirist . He appeared as the Master of Ceremonies in CABAREf a few years ago, an experience his mother lovingly recalls as "dismal." BRIAN SPRINGER (Roger) has applied his talents to a number of diverse roles this year, playing the demonic Bildad in J.B., the money-hungry murderer Lesgate in DIAL 'M' FOR MURDER, and added his technical abilities to THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT. SUSAN LOUGHRAN (Mrs. Hardcastle( is a native New Yorker who came to Texas three summers ago to work in the SEU summer stock program . She returned permanently in the fall to teach, design costumes and direct university productions. As an actress at St. Edward's, Ms. Loughran performed with John Carradine in TOBACCO ROAD, played Billie Dawn in BORN YESTERDAY with Broderick Crawford, and portrayed Domina in A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM with ,John Schuck. Before coming to Texas, Ms . Loughran worked off Broadway , in dinner and reqional theatres, in film and on television . B.LEN BIAO< (Kate Hardcastle) played opposite Sonny Bono in THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT . A native Big Sandy, Texas, Miss Black has been featured in productions of IOLANTHE and PRISONER OF SECOND A VENUE starring Gene Rayburn. She also appeared in the student production, RAVENSWOOD as well as UGHT UP THE SKY with Marcia Wallace , and JB . Miss Black i~ also credited with behind the scenes work on VERONICA'S ROOM, and our season opener , DIAL 'M' FOR MURDER.

CONSTANCE CAMPBEll (Con­stance Neville) was last seen as the intended victim in DIAL 'M' FOR MURDER, with Martin Mil­ner. Last spring, she played Patsy Newquist in the student produc­tion LITTLE MURDERS. Miss Campbell is a junior acting major whose lengthy list of credits include A DOLL'S HOUSE with Katherine Houghton , PRISONER OF SECOND A VENUE, and J .B. Look for Miss Campbell in RE­VENGE OF THE JEDI. SHEIDA RASTEGAR (The Watch) is a produced playwright, and thrilled audiences this sum­mer in his role as Mr. Dadyar in dial 'm' FOR MURDER. Earlier this year, Mr. Rastegar began work on a new play, and was also featured as the umbrella-weilding policeman in J.B. Tony Lumpkin and Constance Neville

VIRGINIA JOHNSON (The Cherry Peddler) is a sophomore from Dallas, Texas , She appeared with Katherine Houghton in A DOU~'S HOUSE, and worked props for LIGHT UP THE SKY. Recently, Miss Johnson played the part of Marion the Librarian in MUSIC MAN, and portrayed cameo roles in DIAL 'M' FOR MURDER and THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT with Sonny Bono . DONAW HAU (Stingo) has an enormous list of credentials that include performances in JULIUS CAESAR, MY THREE ANGELS, A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE with William Smith, ROOM SERVICE starring Godfrey Cambridge, THE CORN IS GREEN with Eileen Heckart, and a student production, USA. SIMON REYNOLDS (Hastings) played opposite Noel Harrison in NO SEX, PLEASE , WE'RE BRITISH and appeared in A DOLL'S HOUSE with Katherine Houghton , and DIAL 'M' FOR MURDER, with Mart in Milner . In addition, Mr. Reynolds was part of the casts of J.B ., USA and more recently, LOOT, as well as the Shakesperean Company in Central Park in Louisville, KY. FRID ZIMMERMAN (Marlow) is a native of Chicago, Ill. Mr. Zimmerman played the lead in MUSIC MAN, ·and was seen in J.B ., LIGHT UP THE SKY, NO SEX, PLEASE, WE'RE BRITISH, TOBACCO ROAD and THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT. Mr. Zimmerman is a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, and is fairly expert at sleight-of-hand tricks. Witnesses to his ability are often seen in local taverns, but never with money. STEVFN CARPENTIE1l (Thomas) is a junior theater major from New York. His last appearance was as Mr. Pendelton in DIAL 'M ' FOR MURDER . Previously, Mr. Carpentier played Charlie Cowell, the anvil salesman, in MUSIC MAN, and had roles in A YARD OF SUN and the student presentation, NOON. He was also involved in the technical production of THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT. RICI-IARD JOHNSON (Diggory) hails from Highland Park, Texas . Since coming to SEU, he has contributed performances to DIAL 'M' FOR MURDER, J.B . and LITTLE MURDERS. He played Dan, the psychotic killer in NIGHT MUST FALL. Mr. Johnson was also a member of the now -defunct BARFO AND HIS TO BE ANNOUNCED PLAYERS , and would like to conclude his career at St. Edward's by wishing everyone a happy spring cleaning week . MARY SOIEIIINGER (Understudy for Ms. Loughran) is a native of Buffalo, N.Y., and began her show business career at age six, doing local telev ision commercials. After studying acting there, she came to St. Ed's, performing in A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THEW A Y TO THE FORUM, SHENANDO­AH with Allan Jones , PRISONER OF SECOND AVENUE, J.B ., DIAL 'M' FOR MURDER, THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT, and the student productions IOLANTHE, NIGHT MUST FALL, USA and LOOT. Miss Scheitinger is a graduating senior and has managed our box office for the past year .

TIMOTHY MACHT (Squire Hardcastle) played Dr. Rank in A DOLL'S HOUSE with Katharine Houghton . A four year Acting major, Mr. Macht has also appeared in MY THREE ANGELS, A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM with John Schuck, BORN YESTERDAY with Broderick Crawford , THE FIREBUGS with Jordan Charney , THE MOUSE­TRAP with Robert and Antony Alda and THE FANTASTICKS with John Carradine .
