Game Talk:

Last Time Out

“You have to work for these

things, they’re not handing

them out. For whatever

reason it has taken this

long to galvanize a belief.

That doesn’t guarantee

winning, but it’s sure the

attitude you want to go in

with.”

— Head Coach David Brandt

“A win, no matter what

your record is, feels

good. You always want

to win. Coming out

of every game you

can always improve.

We’re happy we got

three points; we’re just

hoping to get three

more on the road

against Rochester.”

— Forward Corey Hertzog

Game Notes:

Team Rosters:

Pittsburgh: Rochester:

· The Riverhounds (4-14-4) will look to avoid a season series sweep at the

hands of the Rochester Rhinos (9-5-9), already having lost their first two

head-to-head matchups by a goal each. Pittsburgh has not defeated

Rochester since July 4, 2014 at home – a 2-0 victory off second half goals

from Andrew Marshall and Alfonso Motagalvan.

· The Hounds are coming off their first win at home since June 18, defeating

Bethlehem Steel FC handedly, 2-1. Holding a 1-6-3 record away from

Highmark Stadium this season, Pittsburgh will attempt to win back-to-back

matches for the first time since August 8 of last year, while also hand the

Rhinos only their third loss at home on the year (7-2-3).

· With 36 points on the season, Rochester is firmly in the mix for a playoff

berth, holding the seventh-seed and a five-point cushion over No. 8 Orlando

City B. The Rhinos’ success has come by way of solid defense, as their 27

total goals for is the lowest total for any team with a winning record in the

Eastern Conference. Despite this, Rochester holds a goal differential of plus-

seven with its 20 goals allowed bettered by only four clubs in the entire USL.

· Corey Hertzog tallied his fourth goal in as many matches this past weekend,

and is now one goal away from matching his season-best scoring streak of

five matches. The Hounds forward’s nine goals, to go along with four assists,

has vaulted him into the league scoring race as well, with his 22 points on

the season tying him for sixth in the USL with Brandon Allen of New York

Red Bulls II.

· Making his first start in goal for the Hounds this past weekend was Zack

Steffen – the third different goalkeeper to start for Pittsburgh this season.

The Crew SC loanee shined in his win over Bethlehem, stopping six of seven

shots faced – the most by a Hounds keeper since Hunter Gilstrap stopped

six of eight shots at Rochester on June 25.
