This catalogue is complementary to the BDC General Catalogue. Please refer to General informations, installation and stora-ge instructions on section "General information" of the General Catalogue. ATEX installation instructions are available onwebsite www.bdcelectronic.com.

The ATEX sensors meet the requirements of 94/9/EC directive and are certified by IMQ for use in potentially explosive atmo-spheres.The applied harmonized standards are listed on the product pages.

It's very important to choose the category of the device according to the classification of the potentially explosive area:

Zone 0: continuous danger

An area in which an explosive gases atmosphere is continuously present or present for long periods.

Zone 1: potential danger

An area in which an explosive gases atmosphere is likely to occur in normal operation.

Zone 2: minimum danger

An area in which an explosive gases atmosphere is not likely to occur in normal operation and if it occurs it will exist only fora short time.

Zone 20: continuous danger

An area in which an explosive dust atmosphere of is continuously present or present for long periods.

Zone 21: potential danger

An area in which an explosive dust atmosphere is likely to occur in normal operation.

Zone 22: minimum danger

An area in which an explosive dust atmosphere is not likely to occur in normal operation and if it occurs it will exist only for ashort time.

BDC products include sensors for category 1GD, 2GD and 3GD.Sensors for category 1GD are suitable for application in zone 0-20, 1-21, and 2-22. They are of two types:

- Amplified with protection by encapsulation "m", associated apparatus is not required.

- NAMUR with protection by intrinsic safety "ia", require associated apparatus.

The sensor with protection by intrinsic safety "ia" require associated apparatus certified. To find the appropriate associatedapparatus contact our technical department.

The final user must use the products according with the instruction manuals supplied.

General features:These inductive proximity sensors provide an output current inversely or directly pro-portional to the distance between sensing face and metal target. General features:These inductive proximity sensors provide an output current inversely or directly pro-portional to the distance between sensing face and metal target. The output current isdependent also on the target material. Use of the sensor:

On power on, the yellow LED lights and the output switches to the ON state, drivingthe relay, which will drive the motor. After a start up delay time (T1) the sensor mea-sures the speed of the motor and compares it to the threshold value. If the speed is under the threshold value, the output goes OFF, turning off the LED. The minimum threshold can be either factory preset or can be programmed from thesensor application with no need to perform any measurement.

Threshold self-teaching procedure:

There are two different ways to perform the self-teaching of the threshold:

1- Acquisition of start up time and calculation of the threshold from the maximum speed:

a) connect the Teach input (white) to the positive of power supply (brown) beforeturning on the power

b) Turn on the power supply to the machine and to the sensor and wait the speed gets the nominal value. The yellow LED will flash 4 times to indicate theacquisition complete

c) Turn off the power supply

d) At this stage the sensor has acquired the start up time (T1) and calculated the threshold as the maximum value of the speed reduced of -20%

e) Disconnect the Teach in from the positive of power supply before running the machine again.

2 - Acquisition of a known threshold (start up time is not modified):

a) Turn the power supply on to the machine and sensor and accelerate to the speed you want to get as threshold (th)

b) Connect temporarily the Teach input (white) to the positive of power supply. This operation can be easily done with a push-button on the operator panel of the machine.

c) At this stage the current speed becomes the minimum threshold (th), under of which the sensor goes in OFF state.

Both of the procedures can be repeated unlimited times.

General Description:The Switch/Proximity Detector Repeater type D1030 is a DIN Railunit with one or two independent channels. The unit can be confi-gured for contact or proximity detector, NO or NC and for NE orND SPDT relay output contact.Each channel enables a Safe Area load to be controlled by a swit-ch, or a proximity detector, located in Hazardous Area.

D1030D dual channel type has two independent input channelsand actuates the corresponding output relay. Two actuation modescan be independently DIP switch configured on each input chan-nel: NO input/NE relay or NO input/ND relay.Contact or proximity sensor and its connection line short or opencircuit fault detection is also DIP switch configurable: fault detectioncan be enabled (in case of fault it de-energizes the correspondingoutput relay and turns the fault LED on) or disabled (in case of faultthe corresponding output relay repeats the input line open or clo-sed status as configured).

D1030S single channel type has one input channel and two outputrelays; the unit has two DIP switch configurable operating modes:Mode A) input channel actuates in parallel the two output relays(DPDT contact).Relay actuation mode can be independently configured for eachoutput in two modes:NO input/NE relay or NO input/ND relay.Mode B) input channel actuates output relay A configurable in twomodes as in mode A above. Output relay B operates as a faultoutput (in case of input fault, relay B actuates and the fault LEDturns on while relay A repeats the input line as configured).Actuation can be DIP switch configured in two modes:No input fault/energized relay (it de-energizes in case of fault) orNo input fault/de-energized relay (it energizes in case of fault).
