4.5 years Industry ExperienceSeptember 2011 – Present: Design, Project and Quality Engineer at MarchantCain Design, CoventryMiscellaneous Achievements

Invented, developed and built functional prototypes of 2 patent-pending technologies. Created a project, part and drawing number system. Created a procedure and templates for global co-ordinate reference (RPS) in CAD and drawings. Created an Excel based calculator for tolerance stack analysis for any given Cpk requirement. Created an Excel based carbon-footprint calculator for working towards ISO 14001 accreditation. Created a design management system to obtain ISO 9001:2008 accreditation. Currently implementing forms and procedures, working towards TS 16949 accreditation.

Project 6 - April 2014 –present: Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Designed experiments for thermodynamic testing of new materials for use in fire retardation. Supervised testing at client’s facilities to determine the fire retardation efficacy of new materials. Created and presented technical reports internally and to client for new extinguishant selection. Designed novel deployment concepts for selected materials with consideration of particle size, fluid-

flow, pressure and temperature fluctuations. Conducted Proof of Concept tests for concept equipment and process for fluid-flow optimisation. Led System FMEA for concept evaluations to methodically select the most suitable and low-risk system.

Project 4 - February 2012 – April 2014: Porsche 918 actuator for active underbody aerodynamics. Communicated with OEM for design constraints, criteria and negotiating solutions. Created detailed design, CAD and FEA with GRPs for injection moulding, metals for machining, and Jigs

for rework and assembly. Created detailed engineering drawings for manufacturing and measurement, with GD&T system. Studied and created algorithms for block detection (known as Anti-Trap in window regulators). Led DFMEA and PFMEA completion with solution generation. Built and tested (including acoustics) of prototype assemblies. Created process control plans for equipment set-up, assembly procedures and test procedures. Created of Material Data Sheets of 58 components on the IMDS web platform that were approved by

the client and resulted in final sign-off. Performed resource management, purchasing of parts and negotiated with suppliers for cost reduction. Managed internal tasks using a Rolling Action Item List to ensure timely delivery of all targets. Supported Project Manager in sign-off audits of design, qualification tests and process.

Completed 43 NCRs (8D form) for returned components, submitted to and approved by client.Project 5 - August 2012 – February 2013: Marussia B2 Active Engine Cover.

Designed a multi-link system to actuate five glass panels in order to aid engine cooling. Studied and understood CFD data to establish specific loads on various components. Adapted a motor and cable system from a window regulator to actuate links. Designed pressed metal parts [visited TRS Engineering limited to learn about process and capability].

Project 3 - January 2012 – May 2012: E.H. Taylors 240 Litre wheelie bin Enclosure. Studied rotation moulding techniques and requirements including factory visit. Designed product for rotation moulding with threaded inserts. Designed product for chain/interlocking series assembly. Designed product for flat-pack shipping and 4 screws assembly. Generated detailed tolerance drawings for manufacturing to the client's requirements.

Project 2 - October 2011 – December 2011: Replica Ferrari 312 T1 and T2 for Ron Howard’s “Rush”. Studied key design elements of the Formula One vehicles. Adapted features of the scanned CAD models to fit the chassis of F3000 cars. Created full scale plots for clay modelling and fibre-glass construction.

Project 1 - September 2011 – June 2012: Bespoke door system and sunroof for a Maserati Quattroporte. Collected design criteria, researched, analysed and developed a one-off sliding door system. Analysed and established volume requirements through kinematic simulation. Communicated and negotiated design solutions to a non-English speaking client. Engineered and analysed mechanisms for reliability through FEA. Completed and delivered professional engineering packages to clients. Supervised construction of prototype for principle tests. Collaborated with fabricators to reduce process complexity and cost.

September 2010 – June 2011: Final year at University Individual project: Designed, developed and performed FEA a Chassis Front-End for a niche market

performance vehicle. Analysed vehicle aerodynamic including wind-tunnel setup, operation and model testing Performed ADAMS modelling and analysis of Bloodhound SSC Project Front Suspension. Led a team of four to design a Shallow-water Rescue Vehicle for flood affected areas. Designed, and performed ADAMS modelling and analysis of suspension and steering systems for a

Shallow Water Rescue Vehicle. Created CAD, analysed and developed a GreenPower Marathon vehicle component.

August 2009 – July 2010: Industrial Placement at Nissan Technical Centre – Europe Undertaken several projects involving technical & commercial investigation, testing of warranty claimed

parts, creating reports and presentations. Supported warranty campaign for GT-R: replacing a critical component, create manual for

dealers/service sites and testing the vehicle to ensure functional performance of new part design. Led one and participated in several supplier reviews and visits to suppliers for evaluation of testing

facilities and liability dispute discussions. Supported Technical Report analysis involving daily communication with suppliers’ technicians and

engineers to ensure technical reports are up to Nissan standards.
