As a member of a highly skilled Infantry combat team, you will become a specialist in patrolling, cordon and search, surveillance, and infantry tactics. Your team will depend on you, as you will on them, and your role will be critical to mission success.
As a Driver Specialist in the Army Reserve you will be trained to operate some of the most advanced transport machinery and vehicles in the world; in combat service and support roles, by day and by night, on all forms of road and terrain.

COMMITYou will complete a
suite of courses over six months to become
a fully qualified infantry soldier and/
or a fully qualified all-terrain driver.
TRAININGYou will undergo physical
training and basic weapons combat training including
night fighting, navigation, drills and field-craft. Once you have completed basic training you
will complete advanced infantry training or
transport driver training.
LEARNINGYou will learn navigation,
shooting skills, radio communications, and army tactics.
Train with the latest equipment and develop skills in leadership,
communication, and problem solving— real skills that you can
use every day in your civilian life. If you become a driver you will learn to drive the
Army’s light vehicles and medium trucks -
on and off road.
EARNING Your pay will be tax-free and is not means tested for other
government allowances. You’ll start on $96.30 per day, increasing to $110.06 per day
after initial training; plus a further allowance of $27.09 per day. So, you could earn
up to $19,000 tax free for the first six months!
SERVINGYour commitment is six months full time service for the Army Reserve in
Western Australia. Then you will serve as a part-time Army
Reservist.
