ATOS is a modular and open architecture system. Various configurations are available to properly fit medium range aircraft, small aircraft and helicopters.

• Offshore patrol with electronic and electro-optics sensors to detect, localise, classify and track a large class of vessels.

• Search and Rescue (SAR) missions.• Antipollution Surveillance and fishery protection.• Anti Submarine Warfare (with dedicated specialised sensors).• Anti smuggling, anti infiltration.

ATOS is operational on the ATR 42MP and Piaggio P166, operated by the Italian Treasury Police and Coast Guard. It has also been acquired for the Australian Customs Coastwatch programme and is recording international success as one of the best products on the market.

ATOS main functions

The ATOS Mission System is a modern

surveillance system based on the

Mission Management System (MMS) that

integrates the latest Mission Sensors using

open system architecture design.

The ATOS Mission System is designed to

facilitate effective surveillance of all types

of activities on sea surface.

A special effort has been done for

increasing the user-friendliness of the

system.

Aircraft protection by means the SPS

Active surveillance by means of RADAR equipment

Passive surveillance by means of ESM/Elint &COMINT equipment

Day and night reconnaissance by means of Electro-Optical Surveillance & Tracking

Underwater surveillance by means of Acoustic & MAD

Voice and Data Link communications

Store and Armament control & release

ATOS main features

• The open HW & SW architecture of the system allows to fit additional sensors in order to meet increased mission requirements

• The use of standard avionic busses allows to connect equipment with standard interfaces

• The system can manage additional sensors with limited HW/SW modifications

• Real-Time Tactical Situation Display & Tabular Data• Digital Map with tactical symbols overlay

• The operators’ tasks allocation can be easily modified during the mission in order to optimise operator workload and effectiveness

More than 50 ATOS installed world wide on differentplatforms for several operators:•Italian Treasury Police, Italian Coast Guard, EcuadorianNavy, Nigerian Navy, Australian Customs, Italian MoD(this is the current ATR-72 MLR program).

In Operations on various different platforms:• fixed-wing: ATR-42MP, P166, B300, KA-350ER,

Dash-8, CN 235;• rotary-wing: Bell 412, SA 350.

High reliability :• As an example, the Australian SIM Mission

System has accumulated since 2009 around50,000 Hours of Operations , without anymission failure on the Dash-8 platform. ATOS is operational on the ATR 42MP and Piaggio P166,

operated by the Italian Treasury Police and Coast Guard.

It is also operational in Australia as part of the Coastwatch Programme and is recording international success as one of the best products on the market.

Key Capabilities

Through these interfaces, the SIM is able to control the employment of the varioussystems and to capture, correlate, record and communicate all elements ofsurveillance data relevant to contact or event and to provide an evidentiary-qualitymission record for use in prosecution.

The SIM uses satellite communication systems to share these data in real time withthe Ground Station and other aircraft enabling better decision making andcoordination both on board the aircraft and on ground.

17

The service provided to the AustralianCustoms and Border ProtectionCommand is not one of flying aircraft butthe delivery of surveillance data.

The SIM is used to control the missionsensors and communications systems, suchas radar electro-optics and satellitecommunications.
