SUBJECT ATTACQ PROPERTY POINT ENTREPRENEURS GRADUATEDATE OF STATEMENT 23 NOVEMBER 2016SUBJECT APPROVED VERSION WITHOUT EMBARGO

WATERFALL – Eight Attacq sponsored, budding entrepreneurs graduated from the Property Point enterprise and supplier development initiative at a gala dinner hosted at Tintswalo in Waterfall. Jo-Ann Strauss, a respected entrepreneur and international speaker delivered the key note address.

Attacq takes pride in partnering with the entrepreneurs on their journey towards providing sustainable, quality services to the property industry as part of the overall business supply chain. The Property Point programme provides critical and relevant business skills our budding entrepreneurs need to succeed in this highly competitive market.

“We thank and congratulate Growthpoint as founding sponsor of the Property Point initiative for the significant contribution the programme makes towards transformation and empowerment in the South African property sector,” says Morné Wilken, CEO of Attacq. “Attacq recognises the courage it takes to start your own business and we believe in the entrepreneurs we support as they grow prosperous businesses. We are proud to be a partner in Property Point,” says Wilken.

Sibongile Shikwambana, CEO of Sandwind Coatings, walked away with the top honours as the winning graduate of the Attacq 2016 Property Point intake. Sibongile Shikwambana started Sandwind Coatings in 2012 after taking over from the contractor who was building her house. The company focuses on commercial and roof coating, as well as redecoration projects and general painting. She was particularly thrilled to receive the accolade as a woman in a traditionally male dominated industry.

Invelaphi Engineering’s (HVAC) Frans Mutola and Gilbert Ovana shared the joint runners up position with Zenzele Sibanda of Zehlile Engineering & Projects (HVAC). In total eight entrepreneurs graduated from the course where they received business guidance, allowing their business to step to a higher level.

“In addition to the skills enhancement and refinement of their business acumen, it is also important that the programme supports their critical connections with key industry players to give them access to a business pipeline for future growth,” states Danny Vermeulen, BEE and transformation specialist at Attacq.

“Having a steady business pipeline is not only critical when one starts out, but also remains the business’s lifeblood, even for a large established business like Attacq. We are proud to support the South African small business dream beyond mere code compliance,” explains Vermeulen.

In time, the entrepreneurs will play a significant role in a transformed real estate sector in our country – adding and gaining value through their quality contribution based on sound competitive business principles. Through Property Point, Attacq collaborates with other industry leaders like Growthpoint towards meaningful industry transformation through enterprise development. The programme is well established with a proven track record of excellent results.

“It remains important for Attacq to participate in social economic and enterprise development initiatives that have sound vetting processes in place to identify and involve potential, deserving beneficiaries who benefit from our involvement. Results measurement and tracking of progress are equally important,” states Vermeulen.

Wilken continues: “Our graduating entrepreneurs have all proven themselves worthy. They established emerging businesses before they joined the programme and they were ready to take the next step to a next level. We salute them for their resolve and determination to go the full distance to become Attacq Property Point graduates.”

Property Point deliberately follows a very strong people-centric approach where the person is supported, rather than just the business – unleashing the potential of the individual. “We are building Gauteng’s newest lifestyle city, Waterfall. A key driver remains to establish quality supply chains and empower quality entrepreneurs to work with us to meet the high demands of building such a world-class city,” concludes Wilken.
