Courses for Students who want to improve their English Vocabulary Language of Learning This course is designed to preteach academic vocabulary, build background knowledge, learn note-taking skills and increase content writing skills.

Important Details

Where will classes be held? Most classes will take place at Hillcrest High School which is located at 7350 South 900 East in Midvale. The PST class will be held at Indian Hills Middle School at 1180 Sanders Rd, Sandy, UT. You will receive a reminder email by June 8th confirming your class schedule and location.

Is there a cost? Yes, a registration fee of $25 is required in addition to a $65 course fee per class. For example, if a student registers for one class the total will be $90 ($25 registration and $65 for one class). If a student registers for two classes the total will be $155 ($25 registration and $130 for two classes). Some classes will require an additional $20 materials or activities fee. Credit card and check payments will be accepted. No refunds will be issued for registration fees; after the first day (6/13) no refunds will be issued for course fees. Students requiring a fee waiver or who have special circumstances (such as: English Learner, McKinney Vento, Refugee, Migrant, etc.) will be assisted.

What is the attendance policy? Due to the condensed scheduling of the semester, a strict attendance/tardy policy is mandatory. Students are allowed up to 2 absences and 2 tardies per class. If the attendance/tardy policy is violated, students will not receive a passing grade for the class regardless of the reason.

Who can take classes? All incoming 9th-12th grade students for the 2011-2012 school year. Out-of-district students are welcome to register.

How do I register? Registration begins: 3/15/11. Registration and payment will be accepted online at http://canyons.revtrak.net. Classes will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis.

How will I receive credit? Letter grades/credits will be posted to studentsʼ transcripts at their boundary schools. Failing grades will also be posted.

Make-up credit will be offered in July at Entrada for Seniors only!Will you be a senior in the fall?  Earn make-up credit/ credit recovery for any high school core class you did not pass!  NovaNet lab classes available at the CTEC campus include Language Arts, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Biology, US History, US Government, Health, Financial Literacy, Earth Systems and more! Classes are individualized to meet each studentʼs credit needs.  Each class is .5 credit, and the cost is $65 per class. Register online at http://entrada.revtrak.net .
