Of the roofing membranes included in this attestation with product certificate, the average composition values, determined in accordance with AP 04-SB, meet the limit values of appendix A, table 2 of the Soil Quality Decree. The average emission values determined in accordance with AP 04-U meet the limit values of appendix A, table 1 of the Soil Quality Decree. The roofing membranes are considered to be long lasting construction materials that retain their shape.
1.5 Roofing systems
The standard design regulations as specified in the “Industry Code of Practice for sealed roofing systems” part B, as approved by the Council of Experts on “Insulation materials and roof coverings”, should be adhered to. In addition to the above, the following installation instructions must be followed during the application of systems on uncoated EPS: - Contact of the uncoated EPS with open fire must be prevented. The application must focus on the fact that there
must never be any openings, in overlaps or anywhere else, in the specifically approved under layer for such systems.
- The use of a multi-head torch assembly or a so-called ‘turbo torch’ is not permitted for the torching of the top
layer.

1.8 Loads in relation to the structural deck
Dutch standard NEN 6702 specifies the requirements for strength and stiffness of the structural deck in relation to the resistance against typical loads. Structural decks consisting of profiled steel roofing sheets should be calculated in accordance with RGSP 1985.
2. PROCESSING
2.1 General The standard design regulations as specified in the “Industry Code of Practice for sealed roofing systems” part B, approved by the Council of Experts on “Insulation materials and roof coverings”, should be adhered to.
2.2 Special installation guidelines and details The processing guidelines “Processing guideline CRH Roofing Materials BV" (current version) are applicable in addition to 2.1.
One-layer mechanically fastened roofing systems
For a one-layer mechanically fastened system, the longitudinal overlaps must be at least 120 mm wide and the
transverse overlaps at least 200 mm.
System on uncoated EPS:
- The use of a turbo torch or a multi-head torch assembly is not permitted;
- After rolling out the roofing membranes, these should be aligned and flattened. Relaxation is not necessary
because the roofing membranes are flat and dimensionally stabile during normal use. The roofing membranes are
laid in a half-brick format (with minimum stagger of the transverse overlap of 2 metres). Longitudinal overlaps are 100
mm and transverse overlaps are 150 mm. This applies for both mechanically fastened systems and for loose-laid
ballast systems. During the processing of the top-layer, the torch must be directed at the MEC-layer of the top-layer.
Please also ensure that the flame does not enter between the overlaps of the bottom layer.
2.3 Soil Quality Decree Application Conditions Royalgum Roofing Membranes must be applied in compliance with articles 5, 6, 7 and 33 of the Soil Quality Decree (functionality, duty of care and reusability). 3. PERFORMANCES
3.1 General In application, the membrane and the roofing systems constructed therewith are sufficiently able to withstand the mechanical, physical and chemical loads that occur through normal usage.
3.2 General strength of the construction
General In terms of the strength of the fastening of the roofing system according to section 2.1 of the Building Decree, the application
examples specified in this KOMO®
attestation with product certificate are compliant. A precondition is that the load determined in accordance with NEN 6702 is not higher than the calculation value established for the resistance to wind load.
The following preconditions apply:
- Valley fixation should be applied by means of mechanical fastening at 0.25 metre intervals, as close as possible to the valley at the locations of the kerbs and roof recesses larger than 1 m
1. Ballast can also be applied at the kerb location in a
quantity that coincides with the quantity derived from the wind load calculation:
- Finishings at kerbs must be wind tight by means of full bonding.
Loose-laid and ballasted roofing systems (L codes) The ballast layer must comply with NEN 6702, NEN 6707, SBR 465.00 and NPR 6708.

Bonded systems Partially bonded roofing systems (P codes) The calculation values for resistance against wind load of partially bonded systems with Royalgum Fusion Mineral, provided by dynamic wind tests (UEAtc-method), are: System 1 * structural deck: profiled steel plate, 106 profile, thickness 0.75 mm; * insulation: PUR with coating based on bituminised glass fleece, mechanically fastened to the structural deck; * roofing: Royalgum Fusion Mineral partially torched onto the insulation. The overlaps are torched separately. Calculation value 3.7 kPa System 2 * structural deck: Consisting of mineralised bituminous surface provided with a primer: * roofing: Royalgum Fusion Mineral partially torched onto the substrate. The overlaps are torched separately. Calculation value 5.3 kPa Note: The above calculation values for system 1 only apply for the insulation used during testing. The determined calculation value for that specific insulation system must be presumed for all insulation materials, provided that this value is not higher than the above calculation value. The above calculation values must be used to test resistance against wind load according to NEN 6702 and NEN 6707. The
above systems must never be used in roof heights > 40 m. Table 6a – Maximum building heights bonded systems – partially bonded systems

Multilayer mechanically fastened CRH Roofing Materials BV has developed a number of specific methods for the mechanical fastening of multi-layered systems. The below calculation values may only be used if the associated method is also used. More information regarding the correct fastening method can be obtained via your contact person or via the CRH Roofing Materials BV technical department. Construction * structural deck: : profiled steel plate, 106 profile, thickness 0.75 mm; * insulation : mineral wool * roofing : Royalbase APP, overlap width 80 mm, mechanically fastened Royalgum Bicom fully torched. * fastening roofing membrane : system 3: Guardian SP70 + Guardian PS4.8 system 4: Guardian RP75 + Guardian PS4.8 Calculation values : system 3 625 N/fastener system 4 625 N/fastener Construction * structural deck: : profiled steel plate, 106 profile, thickness 0.75 mm; * insulation : mineral wool * roofing : Royalbase APP/SBS, overlap width 80 mm, mechanically fastened Royalgum Bicom fully torched. * fastening roofing membrane : system 5: Guardian SP70 + Guardian PS4.8 system 6: Guardian RP75 + Guardian PS4.8 Calculation values : system 5 500 N/fastener system 6 500 N/fastener Construction * structural deck: : profiled steel plate, 106 profile, thickness 0.75 mm; * insulation : mineral wool * roofing : Royal SF APP mechanically fastened under the overlap, overlap width 120 mm Royalgum Bicom fully torched. * fastening roofing membrane : system 7: Guardian SP70 + Guardian PS4.8 system 8: Guardian RP75 + Guardian PS4.8 Calculation values : system 7 400 N/fastener system 8 400 N/fastener For multi-layered mechanically fastened roofing systems for which no dynamic wind load test has been performed, a value of 400 N per fastener may be assumed. The following pre-conditions apply: Screws : Min. diameter of 4.8 mm; Steel pressure distribution plates : Minimum 70 mm square or 70 mm Ø and min. thickness 1 mm. In terms of corrosion behaviour, steel mechanical fasteners must be able to withstand at least 12 cycles of the Kesternich test. For application in climate class 4 (see Industry Code of Practice “sealed roofing systems”), the criteria should be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
The fastening system must be suitable for the structural deck concerned. The extraction value for the fastener in the specified structural deck, calculated according to ETAG 006 § 5.3.4.1, should be at least 1000 N. Possible specifications for the structural deck are: - concrete, min. strength B25; - profiled steel, nominal thickness at least 0.75 mm - wood, thickness at least 18 mm. The mechanically fastened substrate must have a nail tearing strength, according to NEN-EN 12310-1, of at least 100 N. A minimum of 4 fasteners per m
2 should be applied.
These calculation values and the number of fasteners applied should be used to check the resistance to wind load according to NEN 6702 and NEN 6707.

3.3 Limiting the occurrence of a fire hazard
The roofing constructions included in this attestation with product certificate show no fire risk according to NEN 6063 and/or ENV1187 and BRL 1511 part 1 (amendment dated 2007-07-19) at roof pitches as mentioned under § 5. All top-layers included in this attestation with product certificate fulfil the requirements of external fire exposure, tested on the standard test roof construction according to BRL 1511 dated 2007-07-19.
3.4 Sealing against external moisture The application examples of roofs specified in this attestation with product certificate are waterproof, under the preconditions stated in this document.
3.5 Service life
The service life of a roofing construction is dependent on: a) The design; b) The execution; c) Periodic maintenance; d) Backfall; e) Structural deck; f) Practical loads; g) Climatic influences; h) Roofing systems. Based on the laboratory testing, and with due observance of the preconditions, it may be assumed that the service life of the roofing systems with Royalgum Membranes, as specified in this attestation with product certificate, will be approx. 10 years. Practical experience in the Netherlands using the specified Royalgum products and the roofing systems described in this certificate shows that a service life of around 20 years is achievable.
3.6 Backfall Stagnating water must be avoided in connection with the roofing system’s durability. A permanent backfall on the roof surface of 1.6% in the direction of the rainwater outlets is usually sufficient.
3.7 Adhesion between the roofing membrane and other materials under the influence of heat
The adhesion between the membrane and the other materials used in the roofing constructions (metal, stone and bitumen 110/30) is long-lasting.
3.8 Roofing systems intended for planted roofs The systems in tables 3a and 3b with Royalgum Garden are resistant to root growth, on condition that the installation
instructions are observed. 3.9 Hygrothermics
The tested value for the water vapour diffusion resistance coefficient is: - Top-layers µ = 20,000; - substrates µ = 10,000.
4. MAINTENANCE
General In order to achieve the expected service life, cleaning, corrective and preventive maintenance must be carried out at least once a year, in accordance with the following description. Cleaning maintenance Cleaning maintenance is the washing / cleaning of roof surfaces to remove dirt, litter, plant growth, etc. Corrective maintenance Corrective maintenance is the repair of defects like blisters, wrinkles, tears, leaks and all other distinguishable defects. Preventative maintenance Preventive maintenance is the replacement / correction of ballast layers and the re-application of protective layers, etc. The omission of these actions will reduce the performance of the roofing system. Surface improvement This encompasses the installation of a new, fully bonded layer of roofing material onto the existing roofing system. The old system becomes part of the new system in such cases. The need for surface improvement must be established by an expert.
