About CycleZambiaCycleZambia is an exciting fundraising expedition, led by DSWF Educational Advisor, Andrew White, assisted by his cousins Seb and Dom Loram. The small team will undertake the challenge of cycling over 320 miles (500km) from Livingstone to Lusaka, cycling through the beautiful yet unforgiving wilderness of Zambia. The adventure begins at the thunder of Victoria Falls, traversing the wilds of Kafue National Park and the bustling capital city of Lusaka, ending in the serenity of the Lower Zambezi National Park.

Fifty percent of elephants are killed before they reach the age of 15 and in 2011, 23 tonnes of Ivory was seized representing c.2,500 elephant deaths. With estimates suggesting over 30,000 are being killed each year for the illegal ivory trade and through human habitat conflict our work to conserve these amazing animals has never been more important - or more urgent.

Funds raised from this auction will go towards anti-poaching, education, community outreach and elephant rehabilitation programmes funded by the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation in Zambia.

How to bid You can bid for any of the items by emailing the name of the item, your best offer and contact details including telephone number and address to: [email protected] with the subject heading ‘CycleZambia auction’. All offers must be received by Sunday 9th June. (terms and conditions apply - see back page)

Thank you for your support

When I first visited Zambia in the early 1960s it was home to 250,000 elephants and 3,500 black rhinos. Today fewer than 25,000 elephants survive and all of its rhinos are lost. Sadly the illegal poaching continues with the tragic results of orphans such as Chamilandu and Chodoba. We are totally dedicated to saving these babies but more importantly the wider park protection programme which will ensure wildlife survival and benefits to the wonderful Zambian people.

Please support our work by bidding on these great items.

“Winning gold at the 2012 Olympics doing something that I love was an amazing experience. It takes lots of hard work and determination and I’m full of admiration for Andrew White and his team who are taking on the challenge of cycling across Zambia this summer doing something that they love - raising money to support orphaned elephants, the innocent victims of the ivory poaching in the country. I wish them all the best of luck!”
