A: More people are wearing hearing aids. Technology has advanced and hearing aids are now programmed to be frequency specific, and have noise reduction programmes; they are also more discreet. People who are wearing them have a more positive experience and tell their friends. Q: Is getting a hearing aid an easy process? A: Absolutely. Our hearing tests are very specific – we can quickly determine if you have hearing loss and more importantly what type. Audi-Lab routinely carries out aurical visual speech mapping, the latest in hearing aid fitting technology. This allows us to analyse unaided and aided response to speech, maximising the overall acceptability of the hearing instrument. Q: How easy is it to get a grant for your hearing aid? A: If you have a contributory pension or are working and paying PRSI you are entitled to a grant of half the cost of a hearing aid to a maximum of 760. HEAR THIS... but I found Audi-Lab to be much more up to date with their equipment than the place I had been before. They are very nice people – there was always the offer of a cup of coffee when I came in!
