covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of allflesh. And the waters shall neveragain become a flood to destroy allflesh. Genesis 9:13-15 (ESV)

In other words, God not onlygave us His oath, but everytime we see a rainbow in thesky, we are reminded of Godscovenant faithfulness to Hiscreation. Therefore, the sign isfor MY benefit, not Gods!

The same is true of the LordsSupper. The entire Meal(Bread and Cup) is given to usas a sign of Gods covenantfaithfulness as He communi-cates to us all of the glorious

    benefits of Christs Cross-work!

How many times have youbeen impressed with a beauti-ful rainbow? I know I have onmany occasions. The rainbowis a beautiful sign of Godscovenant oath and faithfulness.Yet, when it comes to actualbenefits, the sign of the LordsTable far outweighs a rainbow

    in both significance and beauty!

The next time you come to the

Lords Table, maybe you can readagain the paragraph I includedfrom the 1689 Confession of Faith.Remind yourself that in this Sa-cred Meal you are about to re-ceive, God Himself is conveyingto you the infinite benefits ofRedemption that have been pur-chased through the work of HisSonSigned! Sealed! AndDelivered TO YOU!

    Pastor Rob

For I received from the Lord what Ialso delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he wasbetrayed took bread, [24] andwhen he had given thanks, he broke

it, and said, "This is my body whichis for you. Do this in remembranceof me." [25] In the same wayalso he took the cup, after sup-per, saying, "This cup is the newcovenant in my blood. Do this,as often as you drink it, in re-membrance of me." [26] For asoften as you eat this bread anddrink the cup, you proclaim theLord's death until he comes.1 Cor. 11:23-26 (ESV)

On the first Sunday of eachmonth, we are privileged as a

church to experience a tasteof heaven. That is, we par-take of Lords Table togetherin what is commonly referredto by many as Communion.

What exactly is Communion? The 1689 Confession of Faithstates it beautifully with thesewords:

THE Lord's Supper was insti-tuted by the Lord on the same nightin which He was betrayed. It is tobe observed in His churches to the

world's end, for a perpetual remem-brance of Him and to show forththe sacrifice of Himself in Hisdeath. It was instituted also toconfirm saints in the belief that allthe benefits stemming from Christ'ssacrifice belong to them. Further-more, it is meant to promote theirspiritual nourishment and growth inChrist, and to strengthen the tiesthat bind them to all the duties theyowe to Him. The Lord's Supper isalso a bond and pledge of the fel-lowship which believers have with

Christ and with one another. (AFaith to Confess, Chapter 30:1)

What a glorious reality! Everytime we partake of the Lords

Table, God is confirming to Hispeople all of the incredible bene-

fits that are theirs due to thesacrificial work of Christ on theirbehalf. After the flood recorded

in Genesis destroyed most ofhuman and terrestrial animal life,God swore an oath that Hewould never destroy the worldagain with water. He not onlygave His oath, but a covenantalsign as well:

I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the cove-nant between me and the earth.[14] When I bring clouds over theearth and the bow is seen in theclouds, [15] I will remember my

    We know from

    scripture, even

    from the Lord

    Jesus himself,

    that the Bible

    is about Gods

    redemptive

    program for

    us that

    displays His

    grace to His

    creation.

From Pastor Brians DeskTwo Available Resources

    For Outreach

I would like to highlight two

resources that we have onhand that would be helpful for

a person to get the big pic-

ture of what the Bible is all

about. This could be an unbe-

liever or a relatively new be-

    liever.

    We know from scripture, even

    from the Lord Jesus himself,

that the Bible is about Gods

    redemptive program for us

that displays His grace to His

creation. In other words, it is

about a holy God, mans fall

and need of a savior, and

Gods grace in Christ as Savior

    and Lord.

The first resource is a DVD

    entitled, The Hope. This

DVD tells the story of the

    Bibles central theme, redemp-

tion through Christ, in 36 Bibli-

cal events from creation to the

resurrection. The DVD is 80minutes long and has wonder-

    ful footage depicting each of

    the events with excellent nar-

    ration by several young adults.

It is very well done and would

be great as a gift for your fam-

    ily and friends.

    The second resource is the

book, The God Who Is There,

    Finding Your Place in Gods

    Story, by D.A. Carson. This

    book also starts with creation,

and in 14 chapters (227 pages)

    covers aspects of Gods deal-

ings with man in redemption as

    laid out from Genesis through

    Revelation. Chapter titles in-

clude, The God Who Is Unfa-

    vomably wise, The God Who

Grants New Birth, and The God

    Who Triumphs. If you know

    D.A. Carson, you know that

everything he writes is worthreading. Many of his sermons

    are also available on-line to

    listen to.

    Would you consider purchas-

    ing either of these resources

    for your unsaved friends or

relatives, or possibly to give to

    a relatively new believer? The

DVD is available for $8 and the

book for $7. Both are highly

    recommended. You would

know best if the person youare thinking about and praying

for would be more inclined to

watch a movie or to read a

    book (maybe both).

If you would like to check

    them out or purchase them,

please see me. May the Lord

    bless your concern for others

    for His glory.

In Islamic understanding, thepatience and obedience of the believeris put to the test during this month. Atthe end of the month the "Night ofPower" is a strategic night of prayerwhich commemorates the momentwhen Mohammed supposedly firstreceived the revelation of the Koran

    in the 7th century A.D.

Call upon God's sovereign interven-tion in the lives of Muslims during thistime of year when they are particularlyreligious. Intercede for Muslims toknow Jesus, not just as a greatprophet, but rather as their personaladvocate before the Father for them.Believe God for an outpouring of HisSpirit on Muslims worldwide.

Pray for Christians who face opposi-tion from militant Islamic groups in anumber of countries around the

    world.

Pray for our missionaries who workin areas of strong Muslim influence, some in marketplace ministries or increative-access countries. Pray thatthey may have extraordinary oppor-tunities to share the truth about

    Jesus during this month.

As you pray, you're joining withother believers in bringing the har-

    vest to completion.

And, as always, we invite you to joinus Wednesdays at 7 pm in the But-ternut Room as we pray for thechurch, its ministries, members and

    missionaries.

Several of the Alliance's Core Valuescome into play in this month's prayer

    focus:

Lost people matter to God. He wants

them found(Luke 19:10).Prayer is the primary work of God's

    people (Philippians 4:6,7).

Completing the Great Commission willrequire the mobilization of every fully

    devoted disciple (Matthew 28:19).

Without the empowerment of the HolySpirit, we can accomplish nothing

Awana Returns! With the start of every school year,

our children get the opportunity to

embark on a new and exciting chal-

lenge. Starting in the fall, the Lord

saw fit to bless me with the same

    opportunity. During the summer

months, I accepted the position of

    Awana Commander. So, starting

    Wednesday, September 22nd, La-

    Fayette Alliance Church will be

    hosting another fun-filled year of

Awana. Awana is an incredible pro-

    gram with endless possibilities in-

    cluding community outreach. It

allows a safe environment for our

children to come and play and in-

    teract, but more importantly, a

place where they will learn about

God and arm themselves with His

Word. Children are our most pre-

    cious commodity. Awana focuses

    on scripture memorization mixed

    with goal setting and community

events. The children get a chance to

    work together and encourage each

other. From ages 3 to 6th gradeour children are led by dedicated

leaders who love and accept each

and every child. Each leader has a

passion for the Lord and has chosen

to joyfully accept His calling. So I

extend an invitation to all the fami-

lies to please join us on Wednesday

    nights from 6:308:00 pm.

With your support and prayers I

know this will be a great year.

    Remember: with God all things

    are possible

Vacation Bible School was a success! We had approximately 78 children each evening. I cannot list all the individu-als that played such a huge role throughout the week but I sincerely thank you.

The goal of The Egypt File was to demonstrate to each child that they are specially designed by God for His pur-pose. As I watched all those involved throughout the night I saw how this theme was woven through all they did.

It was wonderful to see God working in this way.

    Thank you again!

Alliance Women Ministries 2010-2011 National Project God has been On the Move to establish His Kingdom even before wesee the first chapter of Genesis open with the story of creation. InGenesis 1:2 we read "the Holy Spirit moved over the waters." This beganthe story of the creation of the earth. From that time, God moved in

many ways to bring people back to Himself. Early on he moved Abra-ham to be in the place where God could establish the nation of Israel.God moved in Rahab's life to include the Gentile peoples in His eternalplan. Throughout the writings of scripture we see a God On the Move.In our world today, there are still many evidences that God is On theMove to bring His Kingdom to pass. It is for us to join in this effort andbecome followers of a God who is On the Move.
