This weekend, the LOC children will enjoy of day of Vacation Bible School,

learning about all the ways they are the light of the world. May we learn

from them how to let our light shine, as we allow God to shine through us.

Here's what’s happening these days at LOC:

• Racial Justice Conversation ~ The Adult Formation Team is hosting a Zoom event for anyone interested in dis-

cussing our role in the movement for racial justice. Join us tomorrow night, Wednesday, July 29th from 6-

7:30pm as we watch a Ted Talk by Robin DiAngelo, author of the New York Times best-selling book “White

Fragility.” We’ll then lead an informal discussion surrounding some of the main points of her talk. Contact the

church office for the Zoom link. We hope you can join us for this important and timely conversation.

• Outdoor Mass at LOC ~ We have received permission from Bethlehem Lutheran to hold Mass outside on the

church grounds for 10 people or less, for select dates. If you would like to participate in these liturgies in the fu-

ture, please contact Fr. Teri and let her know. She will send invitations based on the requests she receives. It

would be wonderful to have you join us for these small, in-person liturgies.

• Join VBS by Making Cards ~ Eight children and youth will be "gathering" together this Saturday August 1st for

VBS. Please keep these young people and their leaders in your prayers. One of the things they will be doing is

making handmade cards to donate to Meals on Wheels in Longmont that will be shared with the meal

deliveries. If you want to do something to support our VBS program, you could make cards and leave them in the

box outside of the LOC office by this Saturday August 1st. All artistic levels are welcome. Putting the words

"Have a great day!" with some simple artwork is all it takes. If you have any questions, please ask Fr. Teri.

• Faces of Faith ~ Last year around this time we had the typewriter out in the narthex so people could share sto-

ries of witnessing faces of faith. We have been resharing some of those thoughts on our Facebook and Insta-

gram pages. We are looking for new stories this year as well. Where are you witnessing faith in action this year?

Who is a face of faith for you today? If you’d like to share some faces of faith stories this year, type them on your

computer and email them to Fr. Teri at [email protected]. We will share them anonymously. Here are

two from last year:

“I am reassured in the goodness of “Mary of Magdala. Preacher. Woman. Friend. Follower.

humanity. My faith is renewed in the Vulnerable. Broken. Spoken. Rabboni’s. Brave. Love.

kindness and generosity and love Open hands, open heart. She brought spices. Cared

that has sustained me during my for his body. For a moment, she was the only one to

recovery.” know the Risen Christ.”

• King Soopers Cards ~ Don’t forget that you can contribute financially to Light of Christ every time you go grocery

shopping at King Soopers! In the first six months of 2020, we raised over $746 in revenue for LOC just by shop-

ping at KS. If you are already signed up with their Community Rewards Program, keep up the great work! If you’d

like to participate in this program and have a portion of your purchases benefit LOC, a step-by-step set of instruc-

tions is attached to this bulletin. You can also call Parish Council member Mark Stenson with any questions.

Leave a message if he doesn’t answer, and he’ll get back with you and work out all the details.

• Thank you for your support! ~ The LOC Adult Mission Team would like to thank everyone who, despite the

effects of the Covid pandemic, still supported this year’s St. Patrick’s Dinner and Auction. The attached letter from

the Mission Team’s partner organization, Tipi Raisers, expresses the tremendous impact of your donations for the

community of Pine Ridge. Your generosity makes a difference! Thank you.

• Offertory Donations ~ Even though we cannot gather in person right now, we are grateful for your continued

financial support of LOC. Many of you have mailed checks to the church office, and we thank you for your

generosity.

“Let the children come to me.”

Rather than have us use gift cards that we reload and use for our purchases each time we shop, now all we need to do is register our King Soopers rewards cards so that they are associated with Light of Christ. Your King Soopers rewards card is the card you use when you shop at King Soopers to get their sale prices.

So, to help Light of Christ earn money just by doing your regular grocery shopping at King Soopers, we need you to take the following steps:

1. Go to http://www.kingsoopers.com

2. Log into your King Soopers account. New users to the website will need to create an account which requires some basic information, a valid email address and a rewards card number (the number found on your rewards card). If a you do not yet have a King Soopers rewards card (the card you use to get the sale price on items in the store), you can pick up a card at the customer service desk at any King Soopers.

3. Once you are logged in to your account, under “Community Rewards,” search WR151. This is the new Light of Christ Non-Profit Organization account number.

4. After you type in that number, it will pull up our organization and then you just need to click “Enroll”.

Please sign up as soon as you can because none of your purchases will earn us money until after you register your re-wards card.

Once you are enrolled and have your card registered, every time you shop at King Soopers (or City Market), make sure to use your rewards card or use the phone number that is related to your registered rewards card to make sure your pur-chases earn us money!

Thank you so much for your generous donation in support of our work to respond to the evolving Covid-19 situation on Pine Ridge. The financial ripple effects of the related financial crisis is having a dramatically disproportionate impact on the Lakota people. With your community's support we have now surpassed 50% toward our goal of $100.000 in order to triple our reach to families on Pine Ridge! And, while we miss our regular activities with volunteer groups on the reservation, it feels so good to be able to provide Tribal members with employment to get regular boxes of food and sanitation supplies to fami-lies in their communities who are most in need! Please keep an eye on our website and facebook page for the latest as we seek to be as responsive as possible in this fluid and evolving situation. We recognize that these are challenging times for everyone and the kindness and compassion your community extend-ed at this time means so much to us! Thanks again for your generosity and for being part of the Tipi Raisers family! Wopila, Dave Ventimiglia Executive Director, The Tipi Raisers/Ti Ikciya Pa Slata Pi
