When we struggle in prayer we often hear people encourage us to be persistent to try again and again as if repetition alone would solve the problem We expect more prayer will help us like time in a batting cage would increase a baseball playerrsquos batting average While it is true that the Lord desires our persistence in prayer there is often more at play The Lord does indeed want us to stretch to grow in our capacity to receive Him but He also wants us to acknowledge Him and His dominion It is not enough to say ldquoLord Lordrdquo in our prayer we must first admit He is Lord of our lives To go back to the baseball example it is not enough to practice X amount of time with Y amount of effort in the batting cage you should also ask for and accept the advice of coaches Swinging the bat thousands of times will not help much if yoursquore swinging it badly In the same way saying a million prayers is good but it is better to accept Godrsquos will and admit He knows best That is one of the things the Canaanite woman in todayrsquos Gospel does well she admits Jesus is Lord and that he is correct

At this time all regular EIM Workshops are postponed The EIM Office has developed a temporary online EIM training to fulfill the compliance requirement Please go to wwwaustindioceseorgworkshop You will need to access your EIM account to gather information needed for training verification ndash information on how to login to your account is included on the workshop page If you have never attended an EIM Workshop and have an EIM account you may participate in the online training now but will be required to attend an EIM Workshop within the year once workshops begin again Otherwise the temporary online EIM training fulfills the compliance requirement for up to 3 years as usual Please contact the church office if you have any questions Thank You
