Road Name Georgetown University
This 12-1 heavyweight sleeper car is yellow with green band and runs on 6-wheel passenger car trucks. This car was used on trains that were part the Chicago & North Western Railroad system in the 1940s-1950s. Today, C&NW is now part of Union Pacific, exclusively a freight railroad with over 32,000 miles of track, but prior to 1971, C&NW operated numerous passenger trains and services.

This 40’ standard box car with single door, full ladders and no roofwalk is brown with white lettering and runs on Bettendorf trucks. This car was rebuilt and repainted in the 1970s, and upgraded in March of 1980. Founded in 1859, the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe was one of the largest railroads in North America until 1996, when it merged with Burlington Northern to form BNSF.

This 39’ single dome tank car is black with white lettering and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Lettered for the H.J. Gilbert Company of Savannah, GA, this insulated and heated tank car was built in 1926. Molasses is a product resulting from refining sugarcane or sugar beets, and is used as a sweetener and flavorant in foods and is also used in the beer brewing process.

This 50’ standard box car with 10’ single door, no roofwalk, and short ladders is orange with black lettering and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Built in 1967, this 50’ box car was shopped and repainted in 1977 into the new ICG “Rail” logo paint scheme. Illinois Central Gulf was formed after the merger of Gulf, Mobile & Ohio and the Illinois Central in 1972. Eventually, Canadian National purchased the railroad in 1998.

This 12-1 heavyweight sleeper car is Pullman green with gold lettering and runs on 6-wheel passenger car trucks. This car was used on trains on the Union Pacific Railroad system in the 1940s-1950s. Union Pacific is now exclusively a freight railroad with over 32,000 miles of track, but prior to 1971, UP also operated numerous passenger trains and services.

Burlington NorthernRoad Numbers BN 459051/459053
These 3-bay covered hoppers are grey with black lettering and run on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Built in 1965 for the Great Northern Railroad, and in 1970 absorbed into the newly formed Burlington Northern, they received a fresh coat of BN grey paint a few years later. These hoppers have a 4,750 cubic-foot capacity and gross weight of 254,000 pounds.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe Anniversary Car
This 50’ flat car with fishbelly side and side mount brake wheel is black with white lettering and runs on Bet-tendorf trucks. Built in 1934, this car belonged to series 7300-7424. Erie Lackawanna was formed through the 1960 merger of the Erie Railroad, and the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad. It was rolled into Conrail in 1976, and most rolling stock was repainted and re-stenciled into the Conrail paint scheme.

Built in October 1953 for the Great Northern Railway, it was serviced in the late 1960s and repainted into the Sky Blue paint scheme. Great Northern was a Class 1 railroad founded in 1881 and eventually was merged with Northern Pacific and others to form Burlington Northern Railroad in 1970.

On September 22, 1995, Burlington Northern merged with Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe to form one of the largest Class 1 Railroads in North America, Burlington Northern Santa Fe, known after 2005 simply as BNSF Railway. In 2020, BNSF Railway celebrated its 25th Anniversary, painting ten ES44 locomotives in a commemorative paint scheme. This 60’ high-cube boxcar features a locomotive-inspired paint scheme with legacy locomotive colors on each end.
