About Arts in ActionThe arts play a vital role in the Central Florida community and in each and every person. Sponsored by the Winter Park Health Foundation and in partnership with numerous organizations, Central Florida Community Arts brings the arts to life with Arts in Action! This collaborative program offers a variety of classes and experiences at a low cost and is geared toward adults 60 years and older. Participants must register in advance as space is very limited.

PlAy it outThis course is designed to teach the basics of stage acting through the use of improvisational games, role-playing and script readings. Students will learn how to expand their imagination to inhabit characters and play with their fellow actors and their audience. This class is wonderful for students who have little to no experience on stage and wish to feel more comfortable speaking in front of an audience. Cost: $30

Just singAnyone can sing. That’s the motto behind this introductory course in vocal performance. For both lifelong and aspiring singers who want to broaden their experience, this class integrates group warm-ups, technique and individual repertoire as well as experimentation with different musical styles. Our goal is to help students discover the beauty of their individual voice and the joy music brings. Cost: $30

PAss it onLearn the art of oral tradition, a custom that has been passed down from generation to generation. Expand your imagination and explore your creativity by sharing the stories and experiences of your life. We will use prompts to help you tell classic stories along with both fictional and nonfictional stories. In addition, writing exercises will be done to explore character, setting and action. Geared towards both the novice and advanced storytellers, this class will teach you how to develop a story, clarify it and bring it to life while using the emotional nature of the content as a means of expression. Cost: $30

Feel it, Move itIf you feel like moving, you’re already dancing. This introductory course is designed to inspire even the most self-conscious person to discover their inner dancer by moving through the energizing and lyrical rhythms of the most glorious music. We will dance to the musical styles of salsa, Broadway, tango, blues and rock n’ roll just to name a few! Classes will include basic steps and incorporate dance styles from around the globe to help students realize the full range of emotions as expressed through the art of dance. Cost: $30
