that we may protect life and beauty.

Fill us with peace, that we may liveas brothers and sisters, harming no one.

O God of the poor, help us to rescue the abandoned and forgotten of this earth, so

precious in your eyes.Bring healing to our lives,

that we may protect the world and not prey on it,that we may sow beauty, not pollution and destruction. Touch the

heartsof those who look only for gain

at the expense of the poor and the earth.Teach us to discover the worth of each thing,

to be filled with awe and contemplation,to recognize that we are profoundly united

with every creatureas we journey towards your infinite light. We thank you for being with us each day.Encourage us, we pray, in our struggle

for justice, love and peace. (Pope Francis)

As a community of faith, we pray for the repose of the soul of Cazzie Brown and Jennifer Johnston’s mother/ Hadleigh Johnston’s grandmother. May their souls and the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. We also pray for those impacted by Hurricane Harvey. From the Diocese of Salt Lake City’s Information Bulletin, donations to disaster relief efforts may be made through Catholic Charities USA, the official domestic relief agency of the Unites States Catholic Church. For information, visit, www.catholiccharitiesusa.org.

Thank you to the many parents who attended last Friday’s Home & School Association (HSA) meeting and played Shipwreck with Captain Hall, PE teacher! Please join me in welcoming Shawn Jimerson, who will be joining Saint John the Baptist Elementary’s Staff as the Playworks Recess Coordinator.
