August Reflection
August Picnic
Due to our cooks vacation causing them to be quarantined, we had our annual picnic
at the Otego Rod and Gun Club on August 9th instead of a monthly breakfast. There was some confusion about the time, but in
the end we had 26 people attend.
There were no birthdays this month and Art Olmstead won the 50/50. Deb Trask,
Terri Beers, Art Olmstead, and Jack Moly-neaux won tickets. Kaylee Trask was our
guest.
Since this is the event that we usually draw our raffle winners, and covid put a
block on that, we gave the $700 raised to Helios Care (otherwise known as Hospice).
We will use the tickets next year, hope-fully. We have also started gathering new donations for next year, so bring your
change and quiet money to all events.
For those of you who remember who the Retread bear Harley and Beamer are, con-
gratulations. For the rest of us; Harley is a Teddy Bear and Beamer is his little
friend. They have been in hibernation for a while (lost in a basement) but have fi-nally resurfaced. How they work is; a
ticket is pulled to see who fosters them for the next month. You take them on adven-tures, take pictures and do a little write up
for the next newsletter. Then you bring
them to the next breakfast to go to a new
family. Bob Oliver and Nancy Green are their foster family for the month of August.
Stay tuned for their adventures.
Barb Enck thanked everyone for the well wishes she received. They really brightened
her days.
Deb Trask talked about the cabin cruise that has been cancelled. Her and Howard
still have reservations and anyone else that wants to go can still make reservations.
Talk to Deb if you need more information.
Regretfully, Deb and Howard Trask will be
stepping down as our directors. New direc-tors need to step forward. If you are inter-
ested in the position, please contact How-
ard and Deb as soon as possible.
Pete and Betty Slavinski lead a ride follow-
ing the picnic. There were 9 bikes that en-joyed an interesting ride through the coun-
tryside. Thank you.
Please pay attention to upcoming events so
you know when and where they are.
Hope to see you all soon,
Stay healthy and safe,
Lori Butts

Let’s Meet for Lunch
On August 22 we met at the Schoolhouse in Downsville for lunch. 9 of us sat at an
outside table and enjoyed the beautiful day. 4 arrived early and ate at a different
table. Mike Butts won the 50/50.
The parking lot and inside was packed with bikers. This made service a little slow, but with patience we managed to en-
joy good food, good weather and good
friends.
Hope to see more of our group at the next
lunch.
Lori Butts
Breakfast for Sept, we will be back at the
American Legion. This month will be a
served buffet, not self-serve. Each table
will be called individually. You have to stay
6feet apart. Masks are required when
moving around but can be removed while
seated. Hope to see you all there.
There is a flier for the holiday party in-cluded with this newsletter. Please re-spond as quickly as possible. The sooner
we know how many are coming the easier it is to know where at Brooks BBQ it will
be. Please remember that it is in October
this year.
Ice cream runs have been posted and
please note the time has changed to
5:30 pm now.
