Kanakas
In the 1800s people from thepacific also known as thepacific islanders werenamed the Kanakas. Theyhad migrated to Australia towork as cheap labour toplant Sugar canes in partsof Queensland. This weirdterm Kanakas means manin Hawaiian.

● Finally in 1890 the slaveryof the Kanakas was over and the Blackbirding hadstopped. This was nowrestricted in Queensland.
Around 1898 there weremore than 8000 Kanakas inQueensland.
