President’s MessageAustralian Engineering Week is a public awareness and education campaign which aims to highlight the role and achievements of the engineering profession in Australia, while also promoting engineering as a career of choice.

Professional engineers, together with engineering technologist and associates, influence all aspects of our lives. Australian Engineering Week provides an opportunity for the community to see just how important members of the engineering team are to the success of business, as well as the health and well being of society and the environment.

Australian Engineering Week in South Australia will be held from 5th to 11th August 2013. Members, students and the general community are invited to participate and see how engineers have improved our quality of life. With the help of our supporters, a large number of events are planned, including engineering career nights, behind the scenes tours, and the highly popular engineering stand at Science Alive! These activities will enable the engineering profession in SA to connect with the community at the “Mums and Dads” level, highlighting great opportunities for their children should they choose engineering as a career.

We hope that you will be able to participate in some of the great events on offer in 2013.

Engineer This!High School Careers NightAre you a school student, teacher, careers advisor or just interested in what engineers do?

As part of the 2012 Australian Engineering Week (AEW) Engineers Australia South Australia Division will be presenting a FREE session on Tuesday 6th August 2013 at the University of Adelaide from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

This session provides essential information about the exciting and diverse opportunities a career in engineering can offer. We will have speakers from a range of engineering disciplines such as mechanical, civil, structural, electrical and petroleum.

Speakers from tertiary bodies in South Australia will also be there on the night to discuss opportunities available through their various study options and programs.
