Roombook Calculate and export room

quantities Define and apply surface materials Define global calculation settings

AutoCAD Architecture 2013

Helps create more accurate room documentation and scheduling

Presenter
Presentation Notes
Roombook enables multiple finishes to be applied per surface, then calculates these surfaces (walls, floors and ceilings) as well as room circumference and furnishing elements for enhanced room documentation. You can define the global calculation settings. By using Spaces and Zones in AutoCAD Architecture 2013, it enables you to define surface materials types, and apply them to rooms. You can create a detail schedule more easily within AutoCAD Architecture for each surfaces, as well as export the data to Microsoft Excel or export a DWF file to Autodesk Quantity Takeoff 2012 and 2013 (QTO) for cost estimating. Bottom Line: AutoCAD Architecture 2013 Roombook feature helps create more accurate room documentation and scheduling.

Display Component Enhancement New overrides in Display Properties

dialog Layer Key per display component Transparency control

More flexibility in creating drawing templates, giving more control over each component

AutoCAD Architecture 2013

Presenter
Presentation Notes
AutoCAD Architecture 2013 introduces Layer Key, Layer Overrides, and Transparency as new display properties. Layer Key and Layer Overrides enable the Layer display property to inherit the layer name from the current Layer Key Style. This will offer more flexibility in creating drawing templates and should allow for templates devoid of hard-coded layer names. The Display Properties dialog has the capability to display all components, and control the visibility of specific components in a drawing. You can also set the display component to inherit the layer name from the current Layer Key Style to provide a cleaner and more organized set of documentation. New transparency controls for individual display components is also being introduced. A new transparency column is added into the display properties editor and the Properties Palette Display tab. This enables more control in cases such as creating handicap clearances and would like to define transparency control to the AEC objects Bottom Line: Layer Key and Layer Overrides in Display Properties dialog offer more flexibility in creating drawing templates and should allow for templates devoid of hard-coded layer names. Transparency control gives you more control over how each component is displayed.

Schedule Table Enhancement Rows can be grouped and

subtotaled Schedule Tag Enhancement Increase control of tag and

attribute rotation Option to rotate entire tag instead

of individual attributes

AutoCAD Architecture 2013

Gain more flexibility, accuracy, and control over the appearance of schedule tables and tags

Presenter
Presentation Notes
The schedule table now supports grouping and subtotaling to further enable customization of content and appearance based on the needs of your project. The schedule table style Sorting/Grouping tab (previously Sorting tab) includes several new options for displaying grouped rows. You can customize a schedule table by grouping and subtotaling rows that have the same values in a column. Schedule tables with grouped and subtotaled rows may be exported to Microsoft Excel. Scheduling tag enhancements increase control over how tags and tag attributes are rotated to align with objects. New schedule tag properties-including Reference Text Angle, Attribute Angle Method, and Maintain Attribute Angle—are available to support functions such as rotating the entire tag instead of individual attributes. The tag can update and attribute rotation angles to maintain Right Reading or Force Horizontal when existing tags are automatically rotated in response to existing objects being rotated. Bottom Line: Scheduling table and Scheduling tag enhancements offer more flexibility, accuracy, and control over content and appearance.

Hatch Display Components Enhancements New Annotative property Hatch pattern responds to

annotation scale

Gain more control in defining the scale of hatch patterns

Documentation AutoCAD Architecture 2013

Presenter
Presentation Notes
Hatch patterns now respond appropriately to Annotative scale changes. A new Annotative property is added to the Hatch display component, which enables the scale of the hatch pattern to respond to the annotation scale. When the Annotative property is checked, the hatch will be drawn at a scale equal to the value in the Scale/Spacing column times the current annotation scale. Bottom Line: The new Annotative property offers control in defining the scale of hatch patterns to match Annotative scale.

AutoCAD Architecture Exchange Central location for add-in content Review the apps Rating options

AutoCAD Architecture 2013 Interoperability & Performance

Easily gain access to add-ins, apps, and other content.

Presenter
Presentation Notes
AutoCAD Architecture Exchange extends the capabilities of AutoCAD Architecture software. Instead of searching at various locations, AutoCAD Architecture Exchange provides a central location for the add-in content. You can find apps that address your needs and acquire them through a fast and easy process. You also have the ability to provide a review of the app as well as rate them. Bottom Line: AutoCAD Architecture Exchange enables you to easily gain access to add-ins, apps, and other content, enabling you to stay up-to-date and maximize the value of your investment.

Content & Catalog Browser Migration Migrate content catalog Reset settings to default

AutoCAD Architecture 2013

More easily migrate content from a previous release

Presenter
Presentation Notes
The Migrate Custom Settings tool in AutoCAD Architecture can now migrate Content/Tool Catalogs from earlier releases of AutoCAD Architecture. Any new settings introduced into the catalogs in the latest release will automatically be added to legacy catalogs when they are migrated. Bottom Line: Migrating content from a previous release is much easier.

Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) Enhancements Recertified from buildingSMART

version 2x3 IFC files New IFC toolkit Enhance support for IFC data type UI improvements

AutoCAD Architecture 2013

Collaborate more effectively with third parties to support different workflows

Presenter
Presentation Notes
AutoCAD Architecture 2013 continues to improve on Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) file format support. It is recertified from buildingSMART for importing and exporting version 2x3 IFC files, staying comply with global industry standards including GSA standards. Some of the other enhancements include user interface improvements, enhanced IFC Toolkit, and support for IFC data type. A new IFC Resource and Assignment dialog box enables you to define IFC resources and assign them to IFC entities like ifcOwnerhistory or ifcBuilding. You can use property data formats to define IFC data types and assign the appropriate type of property. Based on the data assignment, it will export the property value with the correct IFC data type. The new IFC toolkit will enable AutoCAD Architecture to provide more IFC functionality including ifcXml support, incremental export/import, and multiple IFC version support, making it easier to migrate changes from one release to another. Bottom Line: IFC enhancements enable you to collaborate more effectively with third parties to support different workflows.

reusing the graphics for similar objects

Increases efficiency, enabling you to start working sooner

AutoCAD Architecture 2013

Presenter
Presentation Notes
The geometry sharing performance enhancement enables you to begin working sooner, while the drawing is still regenerating. The User Interface responds much faster and you no longer have to wait for the entire drawing to finish regenerating before you can begin working. Two commands are introduced to enable Geometry Sharing and Progressive Update: setEnableGeometryShare setEnableProgressiveUpdate Bottom Line: Regeneration performance enhancement increases efficiency, since the user interface response is quicker and you can start working sooner.
