Project engineer: John P O’ Brien
After my design was approved, I sent away the design for professional drafting
Using the design provided by the engineering department, we constructed 4 new bin cover lids
Next step was to fit the lid frames with the new rams to ensure perfect fit
Once satisfied with lid fitting, we completed the sheet work on each lid
The next stage of our project involved the purchase and installation of the hydraulic pump to operate the opening/closing of the bin covers.
The Pump was supplied by Dowden's along with the installation of the stainless steel pipework.
The sprinkler system is used for dust suppression as an environmental measure.
The old system operated on a timer activating hourly for four minutes.
It operated by spraying through holes on an old bar running along the bins.
The new system would incorporate rotating sprinklers in each corner and would continue to use the old timer as before.
This new system proved very successful for dust suppression.
