case study – MicroHeat Technologies CFEWH

Futuris has been working with MicroHeat for over two years to support the commercialisation of their revolutionary continuous flow electric water heater.

Futuris provides the following services:

– Design for manufacture

– Design and product validation

– Component sourcing & supply chain management

– Production process and equipment design and sourcing

– Manufacturing & assembly of the product

– Warranty support

The CFEWH went into production in Melbourne, Australia in early 2012.

The CFEWH contains 90% locally sourced components.

Most suppliers selected are existing automotive industry standard suppliers ensuring a high level quality and service.

Futuris has provided a dedicated engineering and manufacturing team to this project with all costs deferred into the production piece price.


case study – Futuris Close the Loop JV (FCtL)

Close the Loop is an Australian owned, resource recovery company currently focused on the niche market of imaging consumables, within the consumer electronics industry. For just on 10 years, CtL has pioneered the collection and recycling (resource recovery) of toner and inkjet cartridges for OEM printer and copier companies.

Collection of used cartridges is via a network of some 45,000 collection sites. CtL has successfully pioneered the recovery of valuable resources from toner and inkjet cartridges with zero waste to landfill.

Futuris and CtL have formed a JV to utilise waste from the recovery process as well as Futuris’internally generated plastic waste in a wood replacement product called eWood®.

eWood® features and benefits include:– Black

– 100% recycled content

– 100% recyclable at end of life

– Water & Rot resistant

– UV resistant

– Highly resistant to compressive loads (similar to concrete in its characteristics)

– Can be painted unlike polyolefin based plastic lumber

– Insect and Bacteria Resistant

– Can be worked/machined like timber using woodworking tools.


case study – Pyron Solar

Pyron Solar has developed a patented and powerful solar concentrator that harnesses the sun’s energy with high-energy conversion and unlimited scalability. In developing the unique and proprietary HE Optics System, Pyron Solar engineers have overcome some of the most challenging issues affecting the implementation of solar technology on a wide scale, including solar cell heat transfer, wind, shadow and maintenance issues, and, of course, cost considerations.

Chromasun

US based company run by Australian Expats

Have received a $3.5 Million grant from the Australian Solar Institute as part of a $9 Million program to expand into Australia

Part of the grant conditions are that they manufacture the product locally

800 Units must be made and installed in the next 24 months

Aim is to get this cost of the unit to a level where it can compete with on-grid gas systems.

Rooftop solar thermal product which produces high temperature water (85 to 150 degrees C) for commercial and industrial uses e.g. food processing and Hospitals
