The Autoroute ‘Marrakech - Agadir’ is the latest section of the north-south corridor of toll roads/expressways in Morocco, linking Tangier to Agadir. Building works began in 2006 and it was opened in 2010 by Prince Moulay Rachid. The road is 230 km (140 miles) long and connects the cities of Marrakech and Agadir through the Atlas Mountains. It is an extension of the existing A7 highway from Casablanca to Marrakech. The completion of the Marrakech - Agadir section shortens the travel distance on the route Tangier to Agadir by nearly 50 km. The contracting companies of SEPROB and SICE are two of the main contractors on the 33 km Chichaoua- Imintanoute section, which includes two bridges and overpasses. The works were undertaken on behalf of the client ADM, Autoroutes du Maroc and the African Development Bank and were worth over 783,000,000 MAD (500,000 EUR). CCL successfully secured the project because of its experience, its local presence and the cost-effective solution that the company was able to offer. In accordance with the client’s instructions, CCL began construction immediately and completed the post- tensioning works to schedule and within the required budget. CCL’s knowledge and expertise, gained over 75 years, combined with its global presence, allowed the company to bring together experience and ideas from around the world and tailor these to provide a solution which suited the requirements of the local market.
