Following the Lord means nothing less than the cross (3); offering our‐selves with Jesus as a living sacrifice and not conforming ourselves to this world. Following him will entail deri‐sion and scorn, yet the Lord is our help.

1st reading: Jeremiah 20:7‐p (12A) Psalm: 63:s, 3‐4, 5‐6, 8‐9
"WHOEVER LOSES HIS LIFE FOR MY SAKE, WILL FIND IT” Jesus was fully aware of who He was and what his
mission was in this world. That is why He speaks of the passion and death that awaits him in Jerusalem, and
that he will "rise again on the third day." The "true path to the Father:" calls us to think more in
the way of God than that of men. The saints have spent their lives at the service of Christ
and his brothers. Being able to lead an "easy" life, they chose to use the only life they had by renouncing them-selves, taking up their cross and following their Lord, to
become worthy to receive the eternal reward. What good is it for someone to use a lifetime to accumu-
late many goods if, as Pope Benedict said, "I never saw a moving truck behind a funeral procession”?
It will be best to be ready for the moment when the Lord "will give to each one what our deeds deserve."

“EL QUE PIERDA SU VIDA POR MI, LA ENCONTRARA” Jesus tenia plena conciencia de quien era El y cual era su mision en este mundo: por eso habla de la pasion y muerte que le esperan en Jerusalen, y de que va a “resucitar al tercer dia”. El “verdadero camino hacia el Padre:”, nos llama a pensar mas
al modo de Dios que el de los hombres. Los santos han gastado su vida al servicio de Cristo y de sus
hermanos. Pudiendo llevar una vida “facil”, optaron por utilizar la unica vida que tenian renunciando a ellos mismos, tomando su cruz y siguiendo a su Señor, para hacerse dignos de recibir la recompensa eterna.
¿De que le sirve a alguien emplear toda una vida para acumular muchos bienes si, como dijo el Papa Francisco: “Nunca vi un camion de mudanza detras de un cortejo funebre?
Lo major sera estar listos para el momento que el Señor “dara a cada uno lo que merecen sus obras”.
Seguir al Señor significa nada menos que la cruz; of‐reciéndonos con Jesus como un sacrificio viviente y no con‐formándonos con este mundo. Seguirle implicara rechazo y desprecio, pero el Señor es nuestro auxilio.
