Whoever Strives
Will Succeed
Assalamu alaikum,
A warm welcome to
you!
This is our first newslet-
ter of the year and it is
already bursting with
events, trips and school activities. I hope you
enjoy reading what your
daughter has been do-
ing in school beyond
her normal lessons.
Since our inception, we
have always believed in
providing varied and
enriching experiences
for our students. In-
deed, Ofsted rated us
‘Outstanding’ in this
regard.
I wish you have a rest-
ful break and we will
meet again in the new
year.

Thorpe Park Trip
On 21st September LNS students visited
Thorpe Park as an Eid trip organised by the
school council.
n the morning all the students came in bursting
with excitement, ready to go on every ride
possible. As soon the teachers gave us our
tickets we were off. As the day progressed
students went on high rides, drank slushies
and ate lots of sweets.
Eventhough we were getting tired that didn’t
stop us enjoying every ride to the fullest.
Alhamdu lillah we were blessed to stay there
until clos-
ing time.
Every stu-
dent en-
joyed fac-
ing their fears and
laughing
with friends.
InshAllah I hope we visit again soon!
Amal (yr 10)
For the second year running year 11
decided to support the Jeans 4
Genes charity. We presented an as-
sembly about genetic disorders and
how to raise awareness for the
charity. We organised and held a
cake sale
on Mon-
day and
other stu-
dents
baked to
help. We
had deli-
cious cakes,
brownies
and cookies,
these treats sold
out within
minutes. Marwa
from year 11
exceeded ex-
pectations with
a wonderful show stopping cake as
pictured. Students donated 50p to
wear jeans on Friday. The total
raised and donated was nearly £70!!
The school showed their support
for this great cause, well done, we
hope that LNS continues to support
this charity next year after we have left.

Genes for Jeans Day
Breast Cancer Awareness Day
Did you know a shocking
11,500 people die from
breast cancer every year in
the UK! October is a
month to raise awareness
and support those with
breast cancer. LNS stu-dents wore pink hijabs to
school to show moral sup-
port as part of the national
‘Wear It Pink’ day. In the
morning we had an in-
formative assembly with
year 9 who talked about
breast cancer and told us
some interesting facts. We
learnt that 1 in 8 women
develop the cancer in
their lifetime. But the
awareness is not just for
those diagnosed, it is also
for loved ones of those
affected by the cancer. Year 9 had a bake sale to
raise money for the
breast cancer awareness
charity. Many students
baked yummy treats and
we all dug deep to donate
and eat cake!
So next October remem-
ber to show your sup-
port!
Faarisah (yr 10)
On Tuesday 20th November we had a
new addition to the outside of the school.
With a very generous donation from a
brother in the local community our
school sign finally went up.
Staff and students eagerly watched as the
fitters put the sign up. The rest of the stu-
dents were away at PE and met with a
pleasant surprise when they returned.
Now we are here in the new building and
our neigh-
bours and
passers by can see who we
are!
“It’s nice to
have our sign
up now and it
looks lovely in the school
colours”

ECO update
In this term Rayhana and I have
been doing water bottle checks to
encourage students to use reusable
water bottles as doing this is a good
way to help protect the environ-
ment. We started the term in Sep-
tember with an assembly to remind
students the harm single use plastics
cause to the environment.
For students who are consecutive
in bringing their reusable water bot-
tles, there will be a SURPRIZE!!!!!!
So far the people who have had
their water bottles every week
are...
• Tabasam
• Faarisah
Our other target was to reduce
water wastage especially at wudu
times. Rayhana did a presentation
on this.

Yr10’s ART Trip to Kew Gardens
NO PENS DAY:
On NO pens day we used NO
pens which was very fun. We
did so many fun activities and
quizzes which made all of us so-
cialize a lot and get to know
each other better. It gave us the
chance to use and develop our
speaking and listening.
Ayaan year 8
“It was very enjoyable because
we did not use pens, we got to
talk and listen more instead”
Huda year10
Lots of fun activities took place
across all of the lessons, we had
role plays, games and debates to name a few. We hope to take
part in NO pens day again next
year.
“I enjoyed Math's lessons on no
pens day as we got to work out
problems in other ways, using
objects not just our usual pens”
Page 3
We had an exciting trip to Kew Gardens as part of our
art GCSE. We had an art
workshop by a lady called
Ruth, we learnt new tech-
niques like etching and we
were pushed to try new
things that we hadn’t done
before. We experimented
with different media and went
in the temperate house and
did scraffito using oil pastels.
We also have the opportunity
to make models out of wood-
en sticks.
Ustahda then gave us an hour
to go around and collect ma-
terials to use as part of our
projects. We all took food
with us and also had the
chance to visit the canteen
and shops.
Overall it was a great fun day
and we were able to add pag-
es to our art portfolios.
Thankyou to ustadha Tanzina
for organising an excellent
and memorable trip.

MITZVAH Day
On Tuesday 11th December
year 7 and 8 were excited to
finally be going to the theatre.
We were going to Richmond
theatre to watch the classic Pe-
ter Pan. Some of us had never
been to the theatre before so
there was lots of excitement.
Ustadhas Kinza, Sanaa and Oo-
rooj took us to the bus stop
and we had a fun journey on the
way there. Once we were seat-
ed the lights dimmed and the
play started. It was full of humor
and drama. We laughed so
much and enjoyed the perfor-
mance whilst munching on our
snacks.
We were happy
when we heard
our tickets includ-
ed a free ice
cream! That topped off the trip
and at the end there were ques-
tions and interaction with the
audience.
Overall it was a fun experience
and an excellent play. We look
forward to going to the theatre
again in the future.

On 29th November for Mitzvah
Day we went to Sufrah kitchen
to help prepare food for the
homeless. There are many home-
less people in the London and we
were able to help feed some of
them. We made yummy pasta
salad and fruit salad. We pre-
pared everything ourselves,
chopping the fruit and vegetables.
From LNS 13 students went and
met with girls from J Coss Jewish
school. We were put into groups
of 3 and worked together to pre-
pare the food. We were there
from 10-2pm. Before we left, we
were lucky enough to go and visit
the edible garden and the garden-
er let us feed the chickens.
Thanks to ustadha Tahira and
ustadha Oorooj for taking us
there and for the opportunity to
work with other schools and do
something so rewarding. By

Anti Bullying Week:
Theatre trip A CHRISTMAS CAROL
The winner with a powerful pic-
ture, was Maryam Beg year 11.
Well done!
This year’s theme for anti bul-
lying week was ‘Choose Re-
spect’. The week kicked off
with an informative assembly
by ustadha Sanam. Ustadha
taught us not to be afraid to
stand up against bullying and to be respectful to people re-
gardless of their race, gender,
ethnicity or religion. The year
10’s also did an assembly on
this topic. It was very funny!!
To celebrate anti bullying
week everyone wore odd
socks. This was to remind us
that we’re all different and
unique and that is what makes
us ourselves.
Huda (yr 10)
The competition this year was
to design a poster to raise
awareness about cyber bullying.
Cyber bullying has become a
big problem in recent years.
As part of our GCSE we have
been studying the text a
Christmas Carol and we were
happy to hear that a local thea-
tre in Windsor was performing
the play. Ustadha Mariya and
ustadha Kalsoom took year 9 and 11 on the bus into Wind-
sor and we arrived at the royal
theatre. None of us had visited
this theatre before and
we were nervous and
excited.
We soon settled into our seats
and we were absorbed into the
performance. It was an excel-
lent play and it really helped us
to understand what we had
been studying in English les-
sons.
After the performance ustadha
let us go to get some food and
we ended up meeting the ac-
tors there!! That gave us the
chance to thank them for their
performance. It was a really
memorable trip and even
though we were exhausted
when we got back it was worthwhile. We hope to visit
the theatre again soon.

Black History
Month
October represents Black History
Month. This year we had informa-
tive assemblies and tutorial to get
us thinking and talking about black
people in the past and now.
Ustadha Tahira also arranged for
a special speaker to Skype in and
talk to us from America. The
speaker is a black woman and au-
thor of children's books on black
history. It was a very inspiring and
interesting talk.
Trip to Cineworld: As part of Black History Month
the whole school went on a cine-
ma trip to watch the movie Sel-
ma. We made our own way there
and were kindly provided with
snack boxes containing tasty pop-
corn, a chocolate treat and deli-
cious healthy water. People
bought their own snacks too to
enjoy during the movie. A lot of
us found it emotional and heart
warming to see the struggle that
black people went through fighting for basic rights. The year
11 were singing at the end due to
the overwhelming emotion. Eve-
ryone thought the trip was mem-
orable and amazing and we hope
to go again.
HOT FOOD: We have been really lucky this
term as the school is now selling
hot food at lunch times. Ustadha
Shebana trialled the hot food in
the first week making delicious
chicken biriyani and finger licking
roast chicken with naan and sal-
ad. Those who bought it really
enjoyed it and the following
week even more students
signed up for the food. A stu-
dent survey was done at the end
of the second week to see what
meals students would enjoy
more and in response to this we
are having lasagne and burgers
this week. We hope that stu-
dents continue to buy the hot
food and we have lots more
tasty dishes next term.

INTERNATIONAL DAY:
Thanks to the school council,
this year again we were able
to celebrate international day.
The school council gave us all
the continents that we would
represent and excitedly pre-
pared. All the classes made
lists of yummy foods and dec-
orations and drinks that we
would bring in for the day and
every class wanted to impress
the judges and be the win-
ners.
Year 7 had Europe, year 8
had North America, year 9
had South America, year 10
Africa and year 11 had Asia.
All the girls came dressed in
clothes to represent their
own continent and came lad-
en with lots of food.
In the morning after assem-
bly we did a short school quiz
on countries and continents.
Muna and Marjaan from year
11 organised it and we had
lots of fun answering the
questions including things like
“which country has the most
post boxes?”
We started at 12 o clock with
prayers and then busily got to
work setting up the class-
rooms. A few students tried
to spy on other classes but
we kept the door closed and
windows covered. Once eve-
rything was set up in turn the
classes were allowed to go
around and visit each other.
As we visited other classes
we were given a taster tray of
foods from that class.
By the end we all got to taste
the cuisine of different conti-
nents and see the decoration.
It was a really enjoyable day
and we hope to do it again
next year.

That time was here again
…. The sponsored walk!!
This year LNS decided to
go for the walk in Re-
gents Park, and this
would be a 5km walk.
Although this sounded tough for the year 7’s the
rest of us assured them it
would be fine, we had
done 11K the year be-
fore!
The walk was on Monday
10th December and after
2 weeks of assessments
we were all looking for-
ward to a day outside of
the classroom. The good
news was the weather
was nice, no sign of any
rain or snow. We arrived
by coach and embarked
on the walk. It was a
lovely park and we saw
duck, birds and even a
giraffe over the fence from London Zoo next
door!
We kept a good pace
with ustadha Kalsoom
leading from the front
with ustadha Aaminah.
Once the walk was com-
pleted we went to the
masjid next door.
It was the first time some
of us visited Regents Park
masjid but it was beautiful
inside and we prayed ja-
maat there with Muskan
leading the prayer.
After prayer we were
allowed to go down to
the canteen and buy burgers and chips or en-
joy a packed lunch from
home.
