High-Performance DSPAt the heart of JVC A/V receivers is a high-performance DSP. The RX-D412 and RX-D411 come with the Texas InstrumentsDSP, Aureus™ (TMS320DA708) — theworld’s fastest, highest-performing chip of its kind. Clocking in at 2,000MIPS* (at a
250MHz clock speed), this chip boastsextremely high processing power ratings and 32/64-bit double-precision operations.
The RX-D702 also comes with a TexasInstruments DSP (TMS320DA601) featuring a 1,800MIPS* or 1,350MFLOPS** clockingspeed (at a 225MHz clock speed), and the32/64-bit double-precision operations.
All the other units come with the advancedFreescale DSP56371, which features superiorsound field processing power.
* MIPS (Million Instructions per Second): A 1MIPS computer processes 1 million instructions persecond. An “instruction” is a command sent out to a DSP todirectly control and operate it.** FLOPS (Floating Point Operations per Second): the number of floating-point calculations per secondperformed with real numbers.
HDMI Input/OutputThe RX-D702, RX-D412, and RX-D411 comewith HDMI (High-Definition MultimediaInterface), a next-generation digital interface, which is the industry-supported standard fordigital audio and video used at home. Theunits have 1 HDMI output and 2 HDMI inputterminals. Its advantages include:
Video Signal Up-Conversion —with “DCDi byFAROUDJA” forHDMI ConversionThe JVC A/Vreceivers offer VideoSignal Up-Conversion, which transforms theinput video signals to any other compatibleformat for output.
PC Link — Wireless USB and Wired USBYou can digitally send audio from your PC(MP3, WMA, and even Internet streamedaudio) to a JVC receiver and from therethrough your audio system. JVC A/Vreceivers feature USB to interface with yourPC — Wireless USB (RX-D702/D302/D301),which uses a transceiver (transmitter/receiver), and Wired USB, which uses a USBcable. Combined with K2 Technologyfeaturing CC Converter — which significantlyimproves the sound quality of compressed
music files from PC — this function lets youexperience sound far superior to what comesfrom your laptop’s tiny speakers.
With Wireless USB, 2Mbps transmissionrate using the 2.4GHz band allows losslessreproduction of even uncompressed files.Use of DSSS (Direct Sequence SpreadingSpectrum) modulation technology enablestransmission of uncompressed signals withsuperior resistance against noise, whichretains superb sound quality.

The upgraded Version III features doublefeedback loops for both digital and analog. It effectively reduces the distortion caused byspeaker impedance, creating even lower totalharmonic distortion — around 0.004 percent. The High-Efficiency Stabilized Power SupplyCircuit ensures lower power supply noise. In addition, this JVC amp uses the JCV8015chip, which contains all the circuits necessary
for signal processing. This allows the numberof parts to be drastically reduced.
The RX-D412, RX-D411, RX-D212, RX-D211, RX-D206, and RX-D205 come with a new Version III+, which features High-Power Multi-Chip MOSFET. This is aspace-saving device that permits even furtherreduction in parts — leaving more space forwiring — and reduced floating inductance. The result is even higher sound quality.
K2 Technology Featuring CC ConverterK2 Technology is the result of a closecollaboration among JVC studio engineers, producers and hardware engineers, embodying the elaborate algorithms for a sound quality that is close to the master byprofessional standards. CC Converter(Compression Compensative Converter) is an application of the K2 Technology, whichraises the quality of CD sound to a levelmatching that of DVD Audio with thefollowing processes.
When an analog signal is converted intodigital (A/D conversion), high frequencies —normally those higher than 20kHz with CDs— are removed as dictated by the CD’ssampling frequency. The CC Converterfeatures exclusive algorithms to restore lostsignals based on the recorded digital signalsof audible frequencies, those frequencies thatshould have been recorded in the first place.
It also uses high-bit quantization to reproduceminute signals. Moreover, in order to preciselyreproduce the signals that have undergonesuch processing, the CC Converter features a broader analog bandwidth (up to 4 timesthe sampling frequency) extending beyond20kHz. These processes significantly improvethe quality of the music data in the audiblerange, creating a more realistic atmospherethat makes you feel as if the musicians wereperforming in front of you.
What’s more, in response to the growingpopularity of PC music files, JVC hasupgraded the CC Converter so it appliesdifferent algorithms for non-compressed hi-fi(CDs, DVDs and other linear formats) andcompressed audio (MP3, WMA,and others). Compressed musichas never sounded better orclearer.(RX-D702, RX-D412, RX-D411,RX-D302, RX-D301)

Center-Channel AlignmentThe center speaker is usually placed on topof or under the display, while the frontspeakers are set at or near ear level. Theresult is that dialog, carried by the centerspeaker, seems out of place relative to musicand sound effects. JVC’s exclusive DSPapplication virtually positions the centerspeaker to align it with front speakers withrespect to height. The dialog simply soundsmore natural.
Precise SurroundSetupThis is a new JVC solutionfor extremely easy, quick optimization ofsurround sound. It detects sound from yourspeakers using dedicated earphone-typemicrophones (included) and automaticallysets the speaker sizes, speaker distances, speaker levels, and crossover frequency. It also corrects frequency response, and tellsyou when it detects improper speakerconnections — including wrong polarity and a lack of connections. The dedicatedmicrophones are earphone-type units, whichensure highly-precise monitoring of speakersound.(RX-D412/RX-D411)
Smart SurroundSetup (Ver. 3.0)JVC’s Smart SurroundSetup lets you arrange your home theater’sacoustic environment with no hassles. Justclap your hands, and the delay times andlevels of all speakers are automatically set —optimized for your listening position. You caneasily confirm your setup with on-screeninformation — for even more convenience.(RX-D702)
Quick Speaker SetupThis is an “unpack and play” convenience. To set up your home theater properly, justinput the number of speakers you use andthe size of your listening/viewing room —that’s all. You can skip the elaborate stepsyou normally have to follow before the showstarts for the first time. Anytime later, you canadjust settings to your personal taste. Innovations for easy surround sound setup
Advanced Digital Acoustics Processor(DAP)The JVC DAP allows digital recreation ofacoustic environments — halls, pavilions, etc.— in your media room. JVC developed a newsound field simulation technology jointly withone of leading concert-hall designers andcontractors. Capable of handling multi-channelsources, it makes use of a vast amount ofdata for the creation of sound field patternsthat are difficult with conventional processingsystems based on field-measured impulseresponses. Each sound field pattern is verifiedand modified repeatedly by critical auditions. The result is that sound fields are reproducedmost naturally, with early reflections simulatedrealistically. Moreover, the processor iscompatible with multi-channel sources such as Dolby Digital and DTS.

Wood Cone Speaker Systems
Wood’s Superior AcousticCharacteristicsUnderlying wood’s superiority as a materialfor musical instruments — and speakerdiaphragms — are its superior acousticcharacteristics. Wood features high soundpropagation speed, which ensures highsound definition, while its sufficient vibrationattenuation (internal loss) delivers crisp, clearsound. This combination of attributes isimpossible to achieve with conventionalmaterials.
Another advantage of wood is theuneven sound propagation speed. Usually, sound propagates at the same speed in alldirections, causing standing waves, resonantpoints, and poor sound pressure frequencyresponse. Wood is free of such drawbacks, because the sound propagates at diversespeeds — faster along the grain than across.

Wood Diaphragm’s Vibration Attenuation
Speaker as Musical InstrumentEssential for violins, pianos, and many other musical instruments, wood is blessed with
superior acoustic characteristics not seen in other materials.
This is why many speaker enclosures are made of wood. So why not a speaker diaphragm?
It was 20 years ago that JVC engineers came up with this idea and took
the first steps toward developing a wooden speaker diaphragm.
Cutting
Stamping Processes

2-Way Speaker with Wood Cone and DomeThe SX-WD10 and SX-WD8 are 2-wayspeaker systems with wooden diaphragmsapplied both for the woofer and the tweeter. The 43/16" (10.5cm) wood cone wooferensures deep bass and a warm, naturalmidrange. The world’s first 13/16" (2cm) wooddome tweeter delivers a smooth treble that iswell integrated with the bass and midrange.
Challenges in Development — and a Surprising SolutionIn developing the wooden diaphragm, JVCengineers faced a significant barrier —stamping. Wood sheets can crack, split, orbreak when stamped. Countless techniqueswere tried, but all proved ineffective.
After years of trial and error, the solutionwas finally found in a surprising material —sake, or Japanese rice wine. When soaked insake, a wood sheet becomes soft and pliableenough to withstand the stamping processwithout breaking or cracking.
JVC has combined the ‘sake’ methodwith careful, elaborate stamping processesusing special resins and agents to make the wood diaphragm durable enough toretain natural sound over a span of manyyears. In the end, JVC’s 20-year process ofresearch and discovery resulted in thesuccessful development of a wood conespeaker.

Sound Tuning with JVC’s StudioEngineersAs one of the few manufacturers producingboth audio-visual devices and software, JVC collaborates with its studio engineers inthe sound tuning of audio equipment to getthe optimum out of the wooden diaphragm’ssuperior characteristics. This is aimed atcreating sound that comes extremely close towhat musicians intended — JVC’s ultimategoal in developing products.

For decades, JVC has been the chief sponsor behind some of the greatest
celebrations of jazz — festivals such as the renowned Newport Jazz Festival,
with more than 50 years of history, and the JVC Jazz Festival in New York,
