Neat Technology, nice demos, and it works
James Mahoney, CEO of Mahoney & Associates, isn’t a techie. Mahoney owns and runs a medical malpractice insurance agency in Walpole, Massachusetts …. He did the installation himself without any problems, including giving the phones the numbers he wanted.
"I always had a dilemma with small-business phone systems," says Ben Fard, managing director at MoneyVest. "Most phone systems require a lot of money up front for equipment. Then they hit you again [with more upgrade costs] if you want to expand." He says with the VentureIP system, "you don't have to invest in a lot of back-room infrastructure." "If we grow, I'll just add phones," he says.

Marketplace Reaction to Nimcat Networks Acquisition
Merrill Lynch
“Incorporating such technology into Avaya’s IP phones could potentially change the economics of the company’s SMB and branch office solutions, narrowing (or perhaps eliminating) the company’s current cost disadvantage relative to competitors such as Cisco.”
“Avaya's acquisition of private company Nimcat Networks for $46 million has long-run potential to significantly change the market dynamic for small and medium business Key/PBX/VOIP phone systems.”
CIBC
“Avaya's acquisition of a small provider of peer-to-peer (P2P) technologies lends credibility to an emerging, and potentially disruptive, communications architecture.”
Gartner
“The Nimcat acquisition presents Avaya as an IP telephony developer unafraid to think out of the box and strike out in new directions.”

Avaya Peer-to-Peer Communications Target Segment & Branch Positioning
Primary target segment is small locations, including branches, who desire select communication features/functionality with a low TCO …… the related sweet spot is less than 10 stations per location, however, it will be positioned to 20 stations per location to demonstrate growth opportunity (larger environments will be pursued opportunistically)
