The value in a set of data that occurs most often.
The sum of all the data values divided by the
number of data values.
The middle value of the data set when it has been
arranged in ascending order. That is, from the

To find the mean…
Add up all the test scores.
75 + 87 + 93 + 60 + 85 + 83 + 94 + 64 + 77 +
75 + 93 + 53 + 83 + 82 + 74 + 68 + 57 + 91 +83 + 89 + 75 + 85 + 77 + 68 + 100 = 1917
Divide the number of test scores by 25.
1917/25 = 78.84
78.84 is the class average for the exam.

To f ind the median…
Organize the numbers from highest to lowest.
53, 57, 60, 64, 68, 68, 74, 75, 75, 75, 77, 77, 82,
83, 83, 83, 85, 85, 87, 89, 91, 93, 93, 94, 100
Cross numbers out from each end until you reach
the middle.
53, 57, 60, 64, 68, 68, 74, 75, 75, 75, 77, 77, 82,
83, 83, 83, 85, 85, 87, 89, 91, 93, 93, 94, 100
This means that your median is 82.

To find the mode…
Organize the numbers from highest to lowest.
53, 57, 60, 64, 68, 68, 74, 75, 75, 75, 77, 77, 82,
83, 83, 83, 85, 85, 87, 89, 91, 93, 93, 94, 100
Look for the number that occurs most often.
Since 75 and 83 both occur three times, they are
both the mode.

He compares his grades to the GPA grade values
GPA Grade Values
B+ = 3.3
A- = 3.7
A = 4.0
B = 3.0
A- = 3.7B- = 2.7
8/2/2019 Average Project
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/average-project 8/11
Add them all together.
3.3 + 3.7 + 4.0 + 3.0 + 3.7 + 2.7 = 20.4
Divide 20.4 by 6.
20.4/6 = 3.4
Yeats learned that his GPA was a 3.4.

In certain cities like Miami one would think that it is rich and
prosperous because of the millionaires, artists, and movie stars
that live there. However, the working class makes Miami one of the poorest cities to live income wise. With regular salaries
ranging from $78,000 to $5000 per household, the median
salary is set around $25,000. Most Americans do not know that
Miami is considered to be one of the poorest cities in the USAwhen looking at the (median) salary this is obvious. This is one
thing that the median can be used for.
The mode is 16-24 years old. The mode can be used is data like
this to show what age group does the most exercise.
