For full details, please see the compatibility matrix on the http://support.aveva.com/support/.

To Install product release:

Please double-click the installer (file Plant12.0.SP6.19.exe) and follow the instructions. De-installation of the fix release is possible via the Windows Add or Remove programs facility.

PDMS 12.0.SP6 uses later versions of Microsoft development software (Visual Studio 2008) and therefore needs later runtime libraries, which should be installed on installation. If PDMS is not installed on each PC, it is possible that they will not be available. If this is the case, they can be downloaded from: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=A5C84275-3B97-4AB7-A40D-3802B2AF5FC2&displayLang=en.

In addition, a patch is required; if not supplied by Windows update, it can be found here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2051a0c1-c9b5-4b0a-a8f5-770a549fd78c&displaylang=en#filelist

Please note that some of the fixes (first released in 12.0.SP6.2) to AVEVA Multi-Discipline Supports also require changes to the project data; these are supplied separately as AVEVA Multi-Discipline Supports 12.0.SP6.2 and are described in its release note d51960.

Please note also that this fix release will install the update for Global WCF; however, Global will by default continue to use RPC as the security protocol until further configuration changes are made using the XML configuration files, as described in the Configuration Guide. Full details of

installation are provided with AVEVA PDMS 12.0.SP6.6 WCF Update: see release note d51974.

The note below is applicable only when 12.0.SP6.8 Schematics update is uninstalled:-

The new functions in the Schematics update required a change to some XML configuration files.

The installation process renames the old files with a prefix of PrePlant12.0.SP6Update Rollup

Update 8, to ensure that any user changes are not lost. The new version of the files will then be installed as usual – users are warned that they may need to edit the file to include their own changes. It is recommended that the old renamed files are retained for use if the update is later removed. To minimise this inconvenience, it is recommended that users do not modify the original installation.

There is a further issue if this update is later removed, i.e. the SP6.8 updates are removed. Due to a restriction in the Patch Removal Process, the IntegratorAddin will be missing from the DesignAddins.xml and PDMS will throw an error on launch;

To return the system to its state prior to the installation of the update, the customer will need to remove or rename the new XML files (DesignAddins.xml, diagramsaddins.xml, ParagonAddins.xml & schematicsmodelmanageraddins.xml) and then remove the prefix

PrePlant12.0.SP6Update Rollup Update 8 from the old ones to restore their original names.

Description

Isodraft: New capability to swap text enclosure types for welds and part numbers (P-32265) User Grids form can now display multiple user grids (SI-23694 / P-32355) Isodraft: Part and Weld Number Enclosure Types This enables the user to specify the box (enclosure) types for part and weld numbers. By default, ISODRAW encloses part numbers in straight boxes (□) and weld numbers in circles.

The shapes can now be changed to boxes with rounded ( ) or angled ( ) sides for part numbers and straight boxes for weld numbers. The setting can be changed with the PARTNOENCLOSURE command (abbreviated as

PARTNOENC), with options STRGTB, ROUNDB, and ANGLDB.

Command Syntax:

>─── PARTNOENC ──┬─ STRGTB ─┐ │ │ ├─ ROUNDB ─┤ │ │ └─ ANGLDB ─┴──>

Query: Q PARTNOENC

Examples: PARTNOENC STRGTB plots part numbers in straight boxes and weld numbers

in circles (default); PARTNOENC ROUNDB plots part numbers in rounded boxes and weld numbers

in straight boxes; PARTNOENC ANGLDB plots part numbers in angled boxes and weld numbers

in straight boxes.

Restrictions: To avoid inconsistency, it is not possible to change the weld number enclosures independently from those for part numbers.

28902 P-34160

Link validation has been removed from start up and replaced with a command line function for when needed, in order to prevent slow load on entry. Link data stored on CYMLNK objects consist of references to Schematic and 3D objects. These references can become invalid when objects are deleted. Earlier versions of Integrator, prior to 12.0.SP6.11, validated the link data and attempted to reset any links to invalid schematic elements. However, if schematic data is not current on the MDB, this can lead to performance issues and loss of valid links. SI-25540 P-33455 From PDMS 12.0.SP6.9, lines in PDF output may be output with correct thickness: A new (optional) mechanism for handling line thicknesses has been implemented so that precise User Defined linestyle width can be passed to export formats such as PDF and standard DXF. This new option is controlled by an environment variable DRAFT_EXACT_UDLINEST in order to minimise any incompatibility issues. If this is set to “Y”, the precise User Defined linestyle width will be passed to export formats such as PDF and standard DXF. If it is either unset (the default), or is set to “N”, there will be no change in existing PDMS 12.0 behaviour. However, it should be noted that at PDMS 12.1 the environment variable DRAFT_EXACT_UDLINEST will be deprecated and the behaviour will change. Clarification: Please note that User Defined linestyles are those defined in the database as LINEST elements under a style world. System Defined linestyle widths (THIN, MEDIUM, THICK) are unaffected. User Defined linestyle widths in .PLT files are also unaffected. The Minimum Line Width (MINLW) parameter remains on the PML Plot Sheet form, which is used for producing export formats as well as plot files. The user can configure this in the file PDMSUI/dflts/plotter_user_defaults (default 0.22mm), as at present. However this determines both the meaning of THIN for System linestyles and the minimum User Defined linestyle width. As a result, in order to achieve thinner User Defined linestyles, the value of MINLW must be reduced by the user. *PLEASE NOTE* that this will ALSO affect the width of the THIN System linestyle (the default in DRAFT). A similar issue exists when producing export formats via the PLOT command. The MINLW is a parameter to the command. If unset it will default to 0.2mm (it is unaffected by the plotter_user_defaults file). Therefore, the user should not create User Defined linestyles with widths less than the value that they pass to the PLOT command (either using the UI or the command). If the user lowers this value in order to switch on the environment variable and achieve thinner precise user defined line widths, this will also lower the width of the THIN DRAFT system linestyle (e.g. SOLID). For consistency it is recommended that the plotter_user_defaults file reflects the same value of MINLW that is passed to any macros that use the PLOT command. At PDMS 12.1 the link between MINLW and user defined linestyles will be removed, thereby removing the need to affect the THIN DRAFT system linestyle when using thinner user defined linestyles. However this is not available at 12.0.

Exceptions – Significant Defects and Recommended Workarounds

AVEVA intends to fix the defects listed below in a fix release or service pack as soon as reasonably possible.

Incident number

Defect number

Description Recommended

Workaround P-31531 MDS: If the user wishes to create and/or modify MDS–

WitchHanger (CPL) Interface HANGER supports the supplied PML macro file MDS-CPL-UDA.pmlmac, contained in MDS\pdmsdata must be run into the MAS project in Lexicon in an MDB containing the database MASTER/MDSDICT.

This change will be included in the next full release, whereupon the macro will no longer be required.

P-33484 Schematics: Import Option in User option is not working for Excel Import progress form.

This will be fixed in version 12.1

P-33486 Schematics: Error when import complete checkbox is checked on the Excel import (Windows 7)

SI-28486 P-33754 AVEVA P&ID will not be able to connect to the Schematics database if this update is applied. This will be resolved in a fix release of AVEVA P&ID 12.0.SP3 which will be compatible with this release and future Plant releases.
