Armada 100, 300The Marvell® PXA168 processor is the flagship device in Marvell’s ARMADA™ 100 series of application processors targeted at mass market opportunities in computing and consumer devices. It balances high computing and multimedia performance with low power consumption to support extended battery life, and includes a wealth of integrated peripherals to reduce overall BOM cost. The Marvell PXA168 processor is based on a new innovative architecture that delivers the processing capabilities of an entry-level laptop to instant-on, digital consumer and embedded devices by enabling full-featured web browsing, Internet widgets, multi-format video, Adobe® Flash® based content playback, image processing, video conferencing, and sophisticated ultra-fast graphical user interfaces (GUIs).

In this brochure we feature SmartFusion. An intelligent mixed signal FPGA that is the only device to integrate an FPGA, ARM® Cortex™-M3, and programmable analog, offering full customisation, IP protection, and ease-of-use. Based on Actel’s proprietary flash process, SmartFusion FPGAs are ideal for hardware and embedded designers who need a true system-on-chip (SoC) solution that gives more flexibility than traditional fixed-function microcontrollers – without the excessive cost of soft processor cores on traditional FPGAs.
Microcontroller Subsystem (MSS)The MSS is composed of a 100 MHz Cortex-M3 processor and integrated peripherals, which are interconnected via a multi-layer AHB bus matrix (ABM). This matrix allows the Cortex-M3 processor, FPGA fabric master, Ethernet medium access controller (MAC), peripheral DMA (PDMA) controller and FPGA fabric to act as masters to the integrated peripherals, embedded non-volatile memory (eNVM), embedded synchronous RAM (eSRAM), external memory controller (EMC), FPGA fabric, and analog compute engine (ACE) blocks. SmartFusion devices at different densities offer various sets of integrated peripherals, including SPI, I2C, and UART serial ports, embedded FlashROM (EFROM), 10/100 Ethernet MAC, timers, phase-locked loops (PLLs), on-board oscillators, real-time counters (RTC), and peripheral DMA controller (PDMA).
Programmable Analog Front-end (AFe)SmartFusion devices offer an enhanced analog front-end compared to Fusion devices. The resolutions on successive approximation register analog-to-digital converters (SAR ADC) are user configurable, with 8-, 10- and 12-bit modes available. SmartFusion also adds first order sigma-delta digital-to-analog converters (SDD DAC). With its signal conditioning blocks (SCBs), SmartFusion can handle multiple analog signals simultaneously; SCBs are made of a combination of active bipolar pre-scalers (ABPS), comparators, current monitors and temperature monitors. ABPS modules allow larger bipolar voltages to be fed into the ADC. Current monitors take the voltage across an external sense resistor and convert it to a voltage suitable for the ADC input range. Similarly, the temperature monitor reads the current through an external PNjunction (diode or transistor) and converts it internally for the ADC. The SCB also includes comparators to monitor fast signal thresholds without using the ADC. The output of the comparators can be fed into the analog compute engine or the ADC.

Analog compute engine (Ace)The mixed signal blocks found in SmartFusion are controlled and connected to the rest of the system via a dedicated processor called an analog compute engine (ACE). The role of the ACE is to offload control of the analog blocks from the Cortex-M3, thus offering faster throughput or better power consumption compared to a system where the main processor is in charge of monitoring the analog resources. The ACE is built to handle sampling, sequencing, and post-processing of the ADCs, DACs, and SCBs.

It offers Multi-Host PCI Express switching capability, allowing users to connect multiple hosts to their respective endpoints via scalable, high-bandwidth, non-blocking interconnection to a wide variety of applications including servers, storage, communications, and graphics platforms. The PEX 8748 is well suited for fan-out, aggregation, and peer-to-peer traffic patterns. PLX’s proprietary visionPAK debug software comes included, enabling internal receive-eye observation after equalization, for example, or access to the devices’ internal debug registers, making for a faster time to market.

Renesas has the world’s largest share of the market for MCU products with built-in Flash memory. Its extremely wide selection of product families meets all customer needs while helping to create a green society thanks to the company’s strength in low-power motors.
SuperhSuperH is an embedded RISC developed for high cost-performance, miniaturization, and performance per unit of power consumption (MIPS/W). Renesas is developing CPU cores for a wide range of applications and functions and has many products already available. Its product lines include a series with the SH-2 as the CPU core and on chip, large-capacity flash memory, as well as peripheral functions such as timer, serial I/O, and AD converters. There is also a series with the SH-3 or SH-4 as the CPU core, made for high-speed data processing and equipped with cache and MMU. Additionally, there is line-up of series with the SH2-DSP or SH3-DSP as the CPU core which have full DSP functions and an emphasis on multimedia and communications processing. Products currently available also have lots of features, such as low power modes, low power consumption, and small size. Various versatile operating systems and development tools have been improved, allowing for more efficient development. In this brochure we will feature SH7785, SH7724 and SH7762/4.
Superh 7724 and 7785The SH7780 Series (which includes SH7785 and SH7724) is the high-end SuperH processor using the new SH-4A CPU core; the SH-4A instruction set is fully SH-4 upward compatible. Operating frequency in the SH-4A is much faster than in the existing SH-4 CPU core, and the SH-4A CPU core includes an FPU that supports both single-precision and double-precision arithmetic operations.
Superh 7262/4The SH726x series is ideal for use in car audio, home audio, and other digital audio systems. This series incorporates a SH2A-FPU CPU core, enabling audio compression / expansion processing, as well as a CD-Rom decoder and other peripheral functions suitable for audio devices.

ecoSpeed® convertorsBased on the patented Adaptive On-Time (AOT) architecture, the new family of EcoSpeed® converters provides high efficiency across the entire load range with a power save (PSAVE) feature that lowers the switching frequency to cater to low-power standby requirements. This reduces power FET gate charge switching losses and results in greater than 90% peak standby efficiency during light loads. When the load changes from standby to steady state, the EcoSpeed® converter cycle-by-cycle response quickly exits PSAVE mode, providing very fast wake-up recovery time. An ultrasonic power save (UPSAVE) option maintains switching frequencies above 25 kHz to eliminate audible noise during standby. All EcoSpeed® converters offer SmartDrive™, a two-step, high-side FET turn-on scheme that reduces EMI.
The adaptive on-time pseudo-fixed frequency core used in EcoSpeed® converters enables a very fast transient response; this is due to the response time being controlled by a fast comparator, instead of the relatively slow error amplifier found in conventional voltage mode and current mode control topologies. In addition, this reduces the size of the power components used in the system, while the fast transient response also enables the output capacitance to be reduced.
EcoSpeed® converters are a new class of DC-DC regulators and controllers which use Semtech’s patented AOT architecture to enable: • Very high efficiency across the entire load range • Ultra-fast transient response • Easy-to-use, small and highly integrated solutions
AOT topology dynamically adjusts the on-time control based on input and output voltages. This results in pseudo-fixed frequency operation with ±15% accuracy – similar to voltage mode and current mode, and better than constant on-time and hysteretic topologies. The AOT core simplifies design and reduces component count: • Eliminating the need for loop compensation components, • And enabling the use of ceramic input/output capacitors.

The MAX1972 evaluation kit (EV kit) is a fully assembled and tested circuit board that evaluates the MAX1970 family of dual step-down regulators. The circuit operates from an input voltage of 2.6 to 5.5V, and delivers a minimum of 750 mA on each output. The output voltages are programmable from 0.8 V to V

external feedback resistors, or they can be preset to 3.3 V or 1.8 V for output 1, and 2.5 V or 1.5 V for output 2. The board has a MAX1972 installed, but it can also be used to evaluate the MAX1970 and the MAX1971. The MAX1971 features a reset input (RSI), while the MAX1970/MAX1972 feature a power-fail output (PFO).
The MAX1982 ev kit is a fully assembled and tested surface-mount printed circuit (PC) board. The board is shipped with a fixed 1.2 V output MAX1982 IC, and can also be used to evaluate the MAX1983 (adjustable output). Additional pads are provided on the board’s component side to accommodate the external components used with the MAX1983.
The MAX5089 ev kit is a fully assembled and tested circuit board that evaluates the MAX5089 synchronous buck converter IC with an integrated high-side n-channel MOSFET. The MAX5089 EV kit is configured as a buck converter that operates over a wide 5.5 to 16 V input voltage range, and provides up to 2 A at the 3.3 V output.

The MAX8564 ev kit is a fully assembled and tested circuit board that evaluates the MAX8564 dual linear n-FET controller. The MAX8564 circuit generates a 1.5 V output voltage at load currents up to 1.5 A from a 1.8 V input voltage and a 1.05 V output voltage at load currents up to 3 A from a 1.2 V input voltage. The V
DD bias supply permits operation from 5 V or 12 V
rails. The MAX8564 EV kit can also evaluate the MAX8563.
The MAX8633 ev kit is a fully assembled and tested surface-mount circuit board that contains a dual-output low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator. The EV kit operates from a 2.7 to 5.5 V input supply, is configured for 2.8 V (OUT1) and 1.8 V (OUT2), and can deliver up to 300 mA at each output. The MAX8633 outputs can be set to 9 different output voltage settings. The MAX8633 EV kit can also evaluate the MAX8634, MAX8635, and MAX8636 dual-output LDO linear regulators.
The MAX8654 ev kit is a fully assembled and tested PCB that demonstrates the capabilities of the MAX8654 integrated 8 A step-down regulator. The EV kit generates a 3.3 V output voltage at load currents up to 8 A from a 4.5 to 14 V input voltage range. The MAX8654 switches at 500 kHz and provides over 93.4% efficiency with the supplied components.
The MAX8655 ev kit is a fully assembled and tested surface-mount PCB that contains a fixed-frequency, pulse-width modulated (PWM) stepdown switching regulator. The MAX8655 EV kit provides a 1.2 V output voltage from a 10.8 to 13.2 V input source and delivers up to 20 A output current. The MAX8655 IC features internal high-side and low-side power MOSFETs.
The MAX8716 ev kit demonstrates the MAX8716‘s standard application circuit. This dual-PWM synchronous DC-DC converter steps down high-voltage batteries and / or AC adapters, generating main supplies for notebook computers. The MAX8716 EV kit provides dual +5 V and +3.3 V output voltages from +6 to +24 V battery input range. It delivers up to 5 A output current for the +5 V output and 5 A for the +3.3 V output with 95% efficiency. Sc183c eval KitThe SC183C is a 2 A synchronous step-down regulator designed to operate with an input voltage range of 2.9 to 5.5 Volts. The device offers fifteen pre-determined output voltages via four control pins programmable from 0.8 to 3.3 Volts; the control pins allow for on-the-fly voltage changes. The SC183C is also capable of adjusting output voltage via an external resistor divider, easily accessible on the board. Connecting CTL0 – CTL3 to logic low forces the device into shutdown mode reducing the supply current to less than 1 µA. Connecting any of the control pins to logic high enables the converter and sets the output voltage.
The device operates with a fixed 2.5 MHz oscillator frequency, allowing the use of small-surface mount external components. Other features include under-voltage lockout, soft-start to limit in-rush current, and protection from overheating.
Sc283 eval KitThe SC283 is the dual channel version of the SC183, capable of delivering 2 x 1,8 A. The control pins on both devices allow for on-the-fly voltage changes, enabling system designers to implement dynamic power savings.
Sc410evBThe SC410 is one of the new EcoSpeed® family, providing very high power density, excellent transient response and most of all, high efficiency over the entire load range. The new topology can be used to exclude external loop compensation, and includes features such as cycle-by-cycle current limiting, programmable switching frequency and an ultrasonic power save mode.
